Feeling more stupid than usual this morning!
I have dug out the skycaddie 2.5 from the box for a first outing today as some full greens are back on.
Anyway I'm looking at the belt clip arrangement, 3 parts - the skycaddie unit, the belt clip and a slide in part to join the belt clip to the skycaddie unit.
My problem is how does that middle slide-in part fix to the skycaddie unit. The slot for it is at the top of the skycaddie unit but when it slides in it just slides straight out again, I dont see how it sticks.
Have looked at instructions and online but can't find how to sort this.
What am I doing wrong? :D

When it slidesin to the Skycaddie doe it not 'click' into place ? mine clicked into place and I'vejust left it on the skycaddie now.

My advice is don't use it.
The belt clip attachement is the same as those used on mobile phones in the 90's and early 00's. To say its worse than useless is the understatement of the year! One heavy step and it'll detach from the clip.

I've taken the button off and keep the unit in my pocket. Works ok and if you take it out 10 yards before your ball its got time to settle. It's slim enough to not hinder the swing.

Hmm mine is pretty sturdy and have it clipsd to a towel hook on my bag, never felt like it's going to come detatched it stays on side of bag 24/7

Maybe you have a dodgy one. Do you know anyone who has one you can look at?

As youngtom says it should click into place when you push it down, there is then a wee button to press to release it - if it doesn't do that you've got a broken one im afraid.

I have to say I find mine ok whether it be clipped on the bag or on my belt, no problems with it falling off.

Sitting here looking at mine as I type. The wee spring clip that holds the middle bit to the skycaddie is a bit on the flimsy side. However, if it's securely attached it shouldn't really need to be removed. I have used mine on the trolley holder thingy I got as a freebie when I bought mine. It sits quite happily in thatattached to the trolley and just chunters away all day so I haven't actually used the belt clip thingy at all yet.

The bit that actually slides on to the skycaddie is broken at a guess. This happened to me after one use and seems to have been sent to you like it. The good thing is having phoned Skycaddie UK customer services they sent me a replacement part within 3 days :D So all is not lost.

Right this is going to be difficult to describe. On the front of this part you have the round nob thing that goes onto the belt clip itself. On the other side you have the two 'grooves' at the edges that slide down onto the unit itself. You also have the rectangular bit that sits slightly away from the surface of the clip and this is what locks it in place. On this particular section do you have a slight ridge about 3/4 (from memory) down this partially separated bit? If not it has broken off and that is your problem and will mean it just slides straight off of the unit.

I accept that is probably as clear as mud but from my experience I would guess this to be your problem. I have still got my broken part and will try and get a picture to show you later on if you haven't figured it out yet.

I found minie very hard to get out of its holder at first , until I realised there was a button to press to release it....doh , just glad I didnt break it before i realised.

I use the belt clip and havnt had a problem yet and it seems pretty robust to me.

You are correct, the clip is broken, I found it in the drawer, wasn't obvious as the break was very straight. I'll try and wangle a new one out of skycaddie, considering it's never been out of the house that is disappointing.

Enjoyed trying the skycaddie out, quite impressed, certainly makes club choice decisisons much quicker for me. Unfortuately it doesn't tell you how to swing the club!

Few at least you made some sense out of my post! I'm sure skycaddie will be fine about it they were with me- once I had struggled to describe the actual part I needed to them!

This should serve as warning to others though, this part is definitely very weak. I tried gluing it as well (once I had received the new one) and this didn't work. You just have to be very gentle with it and make sure you pull the clip open a bit before sliding it out so your not pulling against the locking mechanism. I very rarely take the unit off the belt clip now as I use this to clip it to a trolley mount / my carry bag meaning I never need to- lowers the chance of it breaking again.

Will probably just put it in pocket or mount on trolley. All the accessories seem very expensive.

You dont happen to know who you contacted for the spare part?

Thats a question... I will find out for you mate as it took a bit of searching to find out at the time. They were based in Kent or somewhere though I think (Skycaddie UK HG that is), I'm sure I have the details of talking to them somewhere. I will post it on here after anyway so others can use it should they need to.

Their customer service was very good though.

I will have a look now.

Got it :D There's a bit of luck.

I don't know who specifically (from memory a guy called James dealt with it after speaking to an initial person) but the phone number is 0845 4080505 for their UK centre, whose location I got wrong: they are in fact based in Oxfordshire. It is 'SkyHawke Technologies UK Limited' that you will be contacting.

I haven't got an email if that is what you were hoping for, but I think it is probably best dealt with over the phone anyway.

Good luck getting it sorted.

Slightly related this -
I got a feebie case and car charger with my SG2.5 Tried to use the car charger the other day and the connectors are wrong. The 2.5 has the mini USB connector but the charger had a standard pin type.
The packaging clearly states that the charger is for the 2.5 and the 5. But it doesn't!
AG in MK have mine and havn't had much joy - at least they havn't rung me yet. if they can't solve the problem I'll try and haggle a box of Z stars!
By the way - if you owned a Motorola V3 phone and you still have the mains or car charger - they both work!!

I've got quite a few mini-usb - mains/car chargers knocking around but have always been a bit leery of using them in equipment other than that they were designed for. The 'wrong' one may not work too well, it didn't in one phone I had.

Anyway good news, gave them a ring this morning and no fuss at all, sending out a replacement part today. They have the skycaddie database so if you're a registered skycaddie user all you need is your name and they'll have your address etc already - very good customer service (presuming the thing turns up!)

Glad you've got it sorted, and another person can now vouch for their customer service being very good. I too only had to give my name etc, they just confirmed the address.

When they sent the part to me it was sent royal mail 2nd class so at a guess it will be with you by the end of the week.
