Presumably to pay for their new football and golf contracts, Sky subs are going up by up to £3 a month, depending on the package!

Isn't that the normal yearly increase?
It (£3) was certainly the yearly increase when I had a subscription - many years ago.
My Virgin bill is £133 for all you use broadband, home phone and TV (with extra box) Much cheaper than I was paying for Sky even after coming off the year deal as a welcome package
That's a lot of money.
I pay £58 for Sky Sports,Unlimited broadband,landline,but only 1 box.
My sky bill at my old place was more. HID has just found a new Virgin deal to go onto dropping it to £99

£47.50 for full package and two extra boxes.
I do find these threads funny though. Successful corporation increases prices following investing heavily in programming...
Are we to see a thread every time diesel/petrol goes up or when Taylormade release yet another overpriced driver inside a year... oh wait.
Yes they are successful but they are increasing prices while offering less. If they'd waited until September to raise prices it would've coincided with the fact they were no longer going to be showing live Champions League football as that's going to BT Sport. So in effect you will be paying more to watch less live football. Or paying even more if you now have to add BT Sport to your package.
Are they offering less? Can you provide detail. As far as I know, overall programing (including original content such as Fortitude) has increased year on year for the last 4 years. Sports coverage, has that reduced. If so what has gone other than CL which, frankly was never worth what was paid for the viewing returns.

As a BT Infinity customer I have had BT Sports for free since its inception. So far I have watched a total of 0 programmes / games.
Proof perhaps, if it were needed, that the market is totally bloated and we suffer from sports coverage overload. Furthermore the day that BT asks me for a single penny for its sports service is the day that I will cancel my subscription.
