Advice from Sky this morning that my subs will be increased by £3.50 per month which may not sound too much.

However with approx.10 millions subscribers, and realising everyone does not have the same deal, this equates to about £420 million per annum extra income.

My question is :- Is Sky value for money?

Hard to know. They've sent me an offer that if I sign up for a new 18 month contract and activate the new european footy channel (no brainer) then I will get 2 years broadband free. Although I'm still thinking about switching back over to BT for b/b, sky's has been pretty unreliable.

As a keen golf/cricket fan I do enjoy their coverage of the European Tour and all cricket coverage. However there comes a point when you start to say how much is that worth.

Yes, I know you can look at packages with broadband etc, but having seen a number of friends who signed up to Sky broadband and can't wait to get back to BT as the service is so unreliable

As a massive sports fan and my OH being a massive movie fan and all that stuff from US we both like it's well worth it

It was a really tough decision but I ditched Sky sports about 8 months ago. My main sport is rugby and with the premiership on BT it was sensible to stick with just that. Yes I miss it but there is enough on BT to keep me happy. As for films, we already had an anazon prime subscription so get their film service in the price

Ditched sky long ago. Use fox sports usa with proxy server for all bpl la liga and us sports, a latin football app for all saturday 3pm games on the go,and a sky employee mate gave me sky go access so i can listen to Peter Oosterhuis and his laughter fits.

I jibbed my sky package last year and to be honest I've not missed it. I do have a sky go account that i use to watch the us golf and other bits.

The only thing i genuinely miss about sky is the pause and rewind facility.

I feel better knowing my money isn't lining Murdoch's pocket.

Virgin sent us a letter to tell us our subscription would go up by 2.5%, but when I went in to sort out my mobile, the manager looked over the account without being asked to, recommended 2 changes and consequently saved us £9 per month. Glad I made the switch, even though the package isn't quite identical.

Got Virgin when we moved to the new house as the estate was wired up and didn't really want a dish on the shiny new house. More than happy as we have the combined TV, broadband and phone. Broadband really quick and get all the Sky sports channels so happy. We were paying more and more for Sky at the old house and in heavy rain or thunderstorms we'd lose the signal. Haven't had any issues with Virgin
