Pretty elaborate question with many answers looked on the net only to find blogs.

I'm currently off 11.9 but need to be down to a minimum of 4.4 by 2012.

Any help helping me would be appriciated!!!

Weather it be tips practics tips course management tips or take regular lessons would be really appreicaitive from you all thanks alot connor :)

Learn to play with one shot shape so as to take one side of the course out of play. If you know the ball is always going right to left or left to right you can play for that which gives you the whole fairway to hit. If you move the ball both ways you've only in effect half as wide a target.
All good players do that.

Connor. I presume you are trying for the PGA foundation degree?
It's not only about being off a maximum of 4.4, you also need to pass the playing test and have a minimum of 4 GCSEs which must include maths and English.
You also have to work at a PGA registered club which has the facilities to train you and be run by an experienced Pro.
My advice would be 2 fold.....
1. There's no hurry. Don't try and force it by 2012, you'll put too much pressure on your game and make it harder for yourself.
2. Use the forum to practice writing English.
If you write to the PGA the way you normally write on here, I'd be surprised if you even get a reply.
Don't forget it's not just about golf.
You have to write a total of roughly 20-25 essays over the 3 years and they wont give a degree out to someone who can't spell.
Good luck with it though and as I said, don't try too hard, just play good golf and let it happen.
And....
Every time you play off the white tees and beat your handicap, hand the card in. (As should everyone)

I agree with Bob, certainly about the writing part nut that will come with some practice a bit like your handicap reduction. I guess the only other thing I can suggest which may be appropriate is find a good teaching pro, either at your club or elsewhere and explain what you are looking to do and get him to suggest what needs working on right now (always good if you can get cut while conditions are good) what can wait until the winter and less golf and needs longer to work on and what can be worked on over time.

Event he top guys have a guy they trust with their swing and so its important for you to get a good coach who you understand what he's trying to do. Some are very technically minded and some go more on feel (I prefer to feel the right position) and its what works best for you. My coach doesn't actually work at my club but is the guy who got me from 20-12

If I'm honest bob I can spell and if I was to be writing an essay of sort, I will handwrite first and do about four or five drafts before deciding on my final.

Also if I PM you would you be able to tell me more on the foundation degree and anything that could help me towards this?

Thank you Mono!

Hi, H, I am going to have about a lesson a week or fortnight unsure yet I will get a price of brad tomorrow thanks! :D

You've got a number of options.

1) Go back 21 years and get reborn as Mr Rory McIlroy
2) Take up a religion - any of the main ones will do. Don't get involved with any of the secular ones or the cults - people will just think you're wierd. Then, start praying. Hard.
3) Look up a Mr A Lladin and ask him whether you can borrow his lamp.

Mono, you and I are off similar handicaps. You're slightly younger than me. I've read many of your threads where you seem to pertain to the fact that being a pro golfer is everything. All else is failure.

Chill out pal. Having a dream is excellent and you can work towards that every waking hour but dropping 8 shots in a year? I wish you well but perhaps give it slightly longer. Setting this type of goal means that you're going to have to shoot sub par every time you play. Only JustOne can do that......

I would say that at your age you'd need to be off low single figures (<6) to seriously consider turning pro and I'm not referring to touring pro.

As I say, I wish you well but take it easy on yourself, enjoy your golf and then see what happens.

Mono,

Have you thought about trying to do some work in the pro shop even if its unpaid just to get a feel for what actually goes on. It may open your eyes. Club pro sounds great but like all jobs there are some parts of it that really make it hard (members usually).

I have to be brutal and don't think you have the game to play professionally but if you can get PGA qualified it does open up a host of opportunities. Keep the education up, your handicap is certainly going in the right direction over the last 12 months and work hard.
