I went out and hit some balls in the wind and rain at the local practice area. Despite the wild weather I was actually quite enjoying it, wrapped up happily in my waterproofs with woolly hat pulled firmly down over my ears.

That was until I was driven off by a horrendous hail shower with hail the size of marbles hammering me senseless. Had to wait 40 minutes until I could go and pick up my balls.

Hail stones in May, today's weather was more like February!

Meh! :sbox:

I got caught in a shower of them on the course on Saturday. No hat and a bald head don't make for a good combination when hail stones are involved :(

They bleedin' sting!

At least it wasn't in the medal, like mine last week.

I hate practicing in the wind. It seems pointless grooving a swing that counters a left to right wind, if next time you go out the wind is right to left.

Me too. Thursday evening, rain blowing left to right and towards me, standing in the range under cover, but the cover was useless. Waterproofs on, hat on. No-one else there. Best range session in months! Hit the ball really crisply. And why, in my forthcoming lesson, will I not be able to hold the club up the right way? What a great game!

I hear you, ive just watched my gardener run for cover with the second hailshower. that reminds me I better get him to trim that rhododendron

I played 18 holes at longniddry in brutal conditions. Strong winds and a succession of vicious squalls blowing through. Fortunately no hailstones. However hitting a (solid) driver to find the front of the green on a 160 yard par 3 or driver and two three woods to reach a 430 yard par 5 sums up the strength of the wind. Definitely enough to cure me of my new found love of links golf!

Only saving grace was doing that without a card in hand. Unfortunately there will be a card tomorrow so fingers crossed for better weather!

Played in a match at Maidenhead the other week. Teed off and played our second and as we walked to the green it hailed like it was the end of the world. The green was white in seconds. Hard to even pick out the balls. I was going to play tonight but the strength of the wind made me decide there was nothing to be gained. Maybe I'm going soft

So much casual water at our place yesterday i might as well have used a canoe to get round the course..... Same again today tomorrow and wednesday and thursday according to the forecast.....

Think ill go back Coarse Angling!

its all the fault of the JS (jetstream) apparently it will take a big storm or 4 mths to shift itself back according to the weather experts in March, doesnt bode well for any summer oop north
