Has anyone played it? As I'm thinking of playing an open there in Feb'
I believe its short Tight and quite quirky and apparently drains very well. It looks like they've added 6 holes as it used to be a 12 hole course.
I might give it a bash as it looks a bit different and possibly Dry.

Only played it about 20 odd years ago when it was a 9 hole course. Yes, short, tricky, not a contender to host a major but sure it will be worth a visit.

I haven't played for a while so I'll be back to being Erratic Dave I'm trying to get quite a few opens in before the start of the season, Hoping to hit the ground running :thup:
Theres a 4bbb at Mere on a Sunday in feb Thats looking good,( can't remember the date) Got to apply in writing though :mmm: Whats that all about.

Played it a few times a couple of years ago. The original course is good. Short but tricky. It has a memorable (quirky) par 4 that has a green on top of a cliff. BUT, the new holes are a bit soulless and just another farmers field type golf hole type.. It does finish with a downhill par 3 though which makes it interesting...

I thought the new holes would be a bit "Farmers Field". I think I'll give it a go though, it isn't too far up the m6 from Chorley :thup:

A couple of friends are members there and I have played it quite a few times over the past 2-3 weeks. Drains very well and fairs a lot better than the local courses. First 9 holes 'across the road' are a little unimaginative but they certainly get more interesting as the holes progress. Very quirky par 4 which you hit up onto a stony hill (can be a card wrecker!). Also another par 4 which you have a blind tee shot shooting up a 'canyon'! All about positioning on this course, so be wise to try it out before the competition!

Played it last year on our society hols and as its been said the new holes are up n down but then when you get onto the back 9 thats when it start to get interesting and tricky.
Couple of nice downhill par 3 one being the 18th,par 4s not long but youve gotta be accurate on few of them nice hilltop blind green ohh and then theres 16th i think it is where you drop down about 15ft behind the ladys tee and all you see is a stone wall in front of you so if going with wood need to get it airborn as soon as possible otherwise your gonna have an out of control golf ball winging its way back at ya :lol: but overall the course was in great condition and lovely greens.

Haha oooh theres lots of fun to be had its like playing giant crazy golf :lol:,seriously though it is a nice course and then burgers and chips afterwards oh and beers.

Dave, I played it about 3 years ago, and enjoyed it.

Don’t expect anything great and you’ll like it. I could say it is like playing a miniature version of Pleasington in parts. If it’s less than an hour for you, subject to condition, it’s worth the journey.

Where the par 4’s are short, they aren’t necessarily “hittable”, due to the lie of the land.
