...can anyone recommend the best way of getting rid of the sticky residue left on the shaft of a club when you peel the price/barcode sticker off?

You know what I mean? On clubs they have a barcode/price stick wrapped around the shaft. When I've peeled them off it leaves behind the a really sticky gluey patch which no amount of sponge and washing up liquid will shift!

Any ideas?
 
Halfords do a stuff called StickyStuff remover. its designed for when you take graphics off of cars and need to remove the glue.

but as said turps, meths, white spirit, Petrol, Nail varnish remover, will all do fine. if their graphite shafts wast with warm sopy water straight after.
