Simple question, what is the silliest shot you have attempted whether in a comp or bounce game?

Mine was in a bounce matchplay game with a mate a few weeks back. I found myself tight to a tree with no out and my mate just off the green. Ended up playing a Jimenez style shot bouncing the ball off the tree towards the green. I would have to say it was the luckiest shot I've ever pulled off with the ball ending up 3 foot from the hole for a par once we had stopped laughing how well it came off.

Mine was in last weekend medal, on our 18th.

We have a row of tall conifers about half the length of the right side of the fairway. The green sits at the end of a slight dog leg, right of the conifers.

Pushed my drive into the conifers, I was lucky the ball dropped to be honest, but was blocked out from the green.

Decided to try and fade my 19° hybrid around the tree line. Hit it exactly as I wanted. The ball started straight, a good 20 yards left of the green, cleared the tree line and began to fade. The ball bounced once short of the green, then ran through and finished just of the false edge (...Run off) on the other side.

Made par so I'll class that as a success

Tried to play a shot out of a pond last weekend...the ball was half showing above the water. I just wish someone had been filming me.

In the Trilby Tour!! (is it ok to say those 2 words?)

After catching the bunker whilst trying to cut the dog leg on a long par4 at The Oxfordshire........tried to hit a hooking 5iron on my knees with the ball 2ft below me. Needless to say, my 3rd was from a plugged lie 5yds further up the face!!! Made triple for nil point (with a shot!) - a point would have been enough to make the finals :(

Playing with Kraxx the other week, he hit his tee shot into the trees, on approaching his second shot he decided to go for the green, small gap through the trees.

He smacked one hard, hit the tree 10yds out front left, the ball richoceted hit another tree immediatley to his left and then bounced clear back onto the fairway.

Any shot where my head is telling me to take my medicine but my heart wants to get greedy for not a lot of advantage.

Is the right answer.

Groan, and all to often this year... I think when you're nearly there, nearly playing to your best but just a little under it that this is most prevalent. Of course the ensuing 8 leaves you scratching for every point again and just as you get nearly back on track...

Rinse and repeat.

Been there, done that - successfully! Though I had a waterproof jacket on and, being into the breeze, got the sheet of water, that came out with the ball, straight back into my face/front of jacket.

Mate I was playing with laughed - a lot, as did I - but confessed he'd had to rush his shot because he'd been standing in a soggy area and rapidly sinking!

Such a choice of silly ones - trying to hook around a tree being the most common!

I was browsing youtube before golf one morning and came across the bubba video of

driver-driver-putt for eagle

needless to say i had to try it on our par 5 2nd. i went

driver-driver-chip out of trees-6iron to water-penalty stroke-chip to back of green- putt-putt-putt

Not quite an eagle i must admit!

2 years on and it still haunts me. 16th on the New course at Moray, Its only 325 yards so its a straight forward 4 or 5 iron down with a 8 or 9 iron in. Driver out of the bag into the gorse twice took a 9 and missed qualifying by 1 shot! Gutted. #coursemanagementissues

Surprised 'topped Driver' wasn't the second shot.

And why do we always 3-putt in these circumstances!

It just went left..and would've continued going left had it not hit the trees

It made a great sounding 'dunk' into the water for the 4th shot though...i always think if you're gunna hit the drink, at least do it in style

Couple of weeks ago i was playing great and feeling invincible. Hit a loose drive into trees and instead of taking my medicine i decided to try and hit a high fade with the ball above my feet. Problem is i had to start it at another group of trees defining the boundary of the couse. I got the hight part right but not quite the fade. Ball sailed over the trees, over the main road and onto the roof of on of the houses boardering the course..ooops

Many many moons ago with four holes to play in a 36 hole Open I overshot the green with my second shot
I found my ball in deep rough tight against a gorse bush, the bush was between me and the green.
Pin was very deep with a downhill bank to carry. Pretty impossible shot with no get out clause.
I went for a Phil Mickleson wedge shot [before Phil had invented them] as I thought I was a couple of shots in the lead.
It had a 5% chance of coming off...it did and left me a tap in par.
Finished par birdie birdie to win by a shot!!!

I'm another who has tried to play out of water. Shoes and socks off, waterproofs on. The ball moved a few centimeters but still I stood there head to toe in stinking water. Looked a fool much to the merriment of my partners

Was in Spain playing a par 4 dog leg left.
Water in between the hole and a direct shot to the green, carry was pretty long (I'm guessing but I think it was around 280 yards to carry the water).
2 of us in the fourball took it on ... splash, splash!

Think I may have been too confident as earlier in the round I had managed to draw a 6 iron round a tree to an island green and putted out for par. Was a really enjoyable moment.
