it depends if you are going to go all the way through the pumpkin (like the trick or treat on above) or just remove the skin (like the monster inc one)

Either way, pick your design and draw it on with a biro, then i use a stanley knife to go over the pen marks, carefully then going under the skin for the bits you want to remove, little at a time. I use a jigsaw blade if i want to go right through the pumpkin.

so you cut a big hole in the top then gouge out the 'stuff' inside-

I've just thought of the perfect face to put on it but hard to do as there needs to be so many bits left to hold the face together...

I'll post my results if ok, if its a disaster I'll eat it

Yes sorry, then you need to cut a holeout and scoop out the seeds etc. dont forget, if you only have small holes in the "picture" you will need to make a hole in the back to allow oxygen in to keep you candle burning.

I was in Tesco's the other day and walking towards me was a pretty lady carrying a couple of pumkins cradled in her arms [in front of her if you know what I mean].
I burst out laughing and she wondered why, then the penny dropped.

I have to admit to cheating. For the last couple of years I have seen charity stalls outside supermarkets etc where you can buy pre-carved ones and I have opted for that if I have had my nephew coming round. Outside of that I am not a big fan of Halloween so I tend to just shut all the lights off downstairs and go and watch TV in the bedroom so as not to be disturbed.

I usually go one better than that and go to my parents house.
