morning guys and gals

I haven't been on the forum properly in months (have occasionally lurked) as I've taken a huge step away from golf due to an ongoing shoulder injury which I'm STILL waiting for the doc's and physios to sort. I even got to the point where I nearly sold all of my golf gear when in a fettle.

As some of you know I've got a very addictive personality and jump into new things with no second thoughts (as seen in my many many golf purchases). I got into running in january and more recently cycling and am sorry to say I'm not missing golf one bit, partly because I know I can't do it until I know the extent of the problem with my shoulder.
so far I've lost a stone and definitely feel much much healthier, even though my diet hasn't changed much.

Makes me wondering how I'm going to fit running, cycling and gold into my family life. are there any other cyclists on the forum?

if your family is anything like mine you'll have no trouble fitting gold in ;)

I cycle a bit for exercise, nothing overly strenuous though, prefer my sports to have a ball involved personally. Hope the shoulder gets sorted soon and you're back out on the course!

Used to cycle a lot, road racing and time trials mostly, but got a knackered knee which prevents me from doing anything too strenous any more. I still try and get out now and then but not nearly as much as I'd like.

Where do you cycle mate?
I'm trying to get into it as part of my GNR training, there's loads of decent tracks around Gateshead and the NE but it's making the time to do it.

Think Wayman doing that cycling thing

Re: should injury got me into cycling

Over the past 2 years I have had less and less time for golf as a result of work and family
So I bought a bike at that time and have been using it most weekend since then and occasional evenings
Keeps my weight down, get some fresh air, keeps my heart ticking and I get to see a load of countryside I wouldn't normally
Not into racing though

Yeah he is, he's loving it apart from drunken "chin on floor" episodes but let's not go there

Wayman also had a drunken "slide down a hill" on a golf course episode the other week when we were playing a team open at newbiggin.........
Was hilarious
He was stinking drunk

Luckily the 3 of us carried him and we Won

Think he was still drunk off celebrating sunderlands prem survival

Re: should injury got me into cycling

I love my bikes. I've got a specialized Tarmac for the the roads and a Cotic soul for the trails. The road bikes a little anti social but beats driving everywhere. The mountain bike is a great laugh with some mates. Especially the few that are new to it who got cycle to work scheme bikes last summer.

Doing rides all over the north east but mainly up and down the derwent walk. I'm after a new road bike when pennies permit but I'm enjoying getting out of the house now the weather has improved
