Should Tiger sit out this year?

Personally, I feel that Tiger should just take this year off, at most play in the PGA but really he should just get better and practice hard for next year. Anyone else agree?

at the end of the day, golf is just a game. he doesn't want to ruin his body/life to play the game.its not about money, he has enough, its about his passion. but to fulfill his goals he needs to be 100% in mind and body, at the moment, he is not near that!!

It depends where his head is at this moment in time and, truthfully, only Tiger knows that for sure. If he feels fine and focused, then there's no harm in taking to the course as soon as his knee is on the mend.

Personally, I think he should leave the majors until next year as they're obviously daunting him and his obsession with breaking Jack's record isn't doing him any good. The pressure cooker situation, although he's used to it, isn't ideal for someone who's dealing with so much outside of golf. Look at Sergio... his personal life crumbled and his golf went the same way. Use other tour events to refine the new swing he's building and move on when he feels ready.

Although the note he sent McIlroy after his Open win earlier this month showed glimpses of the old Tiger. He apparently sent a letter to Rory with something along the lines of "Make sure you enjoy it", and a close friend of Tiger's went on the radio to say that, knowing Tiger, it was more of a "enjoy it while it lasts, because I'm coming for you" in a playful, competitive way.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about him. :D :D :D

This. I'm all about the new breed.

I personally think he's done. His body really is frail after years of abuse with his technically perfect swing.

But if he's going to come back, he needs to take at least a year to rehab all his injuries properly.

He needs to get his head straight before anything else. His body will never be the same and he may need to compensate with regard to his swing. Until he gets his head round his ex-wife and kids and being away and the mental compensation of a flawed swing, he wont return as before.

That said, he has been and always will be a supreme competitor.

Where is your basis for this diagnosis dr aztecs? ;)

Personally i think he will play this year but might not be until the uspga.

:D Seems to me that it's common sense to anyone who has ever had a serious sporting injury. He has a number of them and just keeps reaggrevating them because he doesn't give them long enough to heal.

i think it would be a shame to see the end of tiger playing. i know what he's done off the course isnt great but i think that it shouldnt matter. in the masters it was great to see him playing well again. he does need to take time off to get himself sorted no need to rush back, he has plenty of time to play again but i defo dont think it will be the end of him just yet.

At the end of the day it is about how much his body will let him practice and compete to the levels he is happy with and only he knows that for sure. I think if he can get fit and find a swing that will put less pressure on the frail knee then he has a good chunk of career left but that may need a Faldoesque remodelling. It too Faldo two years to get it right and so maybe that is how long Tiger needs.

Is he done yet. Probably not. Will he reach 18 majors. Probably not. Will he get to number 1 again. Probably not. However I do think he will be competitive in a lot of big events and maybe, just maybe has one big hurrah at least left.

He is doing the right thing in doing what the medical experts are telling him. He should only sit out as long as the doctors tell him to.

I do feel he is struggling physically, injuries at 35 do not clear up like they do when you're 25.

Would be great to get a fit Tiger back to see if he really can rediscover the game that made him untouchable for 11 long years!

People have really turned against him, he needs a good PR team to sort out his public image a bit, he needs a partner he can connect with instead of a blonde trophy wife he had nothing in common with, have some fun, lighten up a lot and get more grounded.

Isn't Laura Davies single? She'd keep him grounded all right :D
