Evening all......
Captains Prize this weekend for our club......Singles stroke play over 18 holes first and if you qualify then another 9.....
Trouble is im not sure whether i should play or not considering my recent form and some of the issues im trying to deal with....Im really only playing 8 months so it would be my 1st time playing in this comp and id really like to as i have entered nearly all this year except match play events.

I have until the morning to decide as i have to put our names down tomorrow... :D

Well technically now im back off 18 again...(17.5) but there's 2 things bothering me....I could go out again this weekend and play complete dribble.....Or do what i did a few weeks ago and bring in a 67 off my handicap......
A. Embarrassing myself by playing badly....
B. playing out of my skin off 18 and risk being labelled a bandit......
The trouble with me is inconsistency as im sure im not alone in this...There are others but im just a little nervous of both outcomes.
Its 3 ball singles format i think.....A low,mid and high handicap partnered with each other...

Don't let it worry you! I would kill to be in your position. As it stands I have no club membership and very little time to play. If I could be out every weekend competing in competitions, I certainly would be!

I play off 18(ish) as well. Not playing to your handicap or shooting a ridiculously low score is all part of the game. Go out and enjoy.

Get out and play Man!!

If you walk it and get called a Bandit - don't worry. You know you're not. THey'll just be jealous!

That's golf pal!!! Everytime I go out I want to shoot level par - I normally end up in the mid to high 80s!!!

If you play badly - so what??? Not one golfer can say s/he's played well EVERY time they've gone out.

If you play well - take the applause. You're not a bandit, you've just had a good day. You'll get cut and then you'll have to do it all over again.

Thanks for all the words of confidence guys....It means alot..Im starting to think its a good idea anyway...Its all experience i suppose

You've got your handicap and have an onus of responsibility to go out play competitive golf as much as possible and try to defend or lower it. If you play well again then credit where its due. if you hack it round then you 0.1 back. Big deal

But....if you don't play, you'll stay at home. You wont hit a bad shot all day. You wont get run over by a bus or get struck by lightning.
You wont play terrible or be come a bandit.

You'll just sit at home. Alone. Bitter, wondering what would have happened if you had the bottle to get out and LIVE, Play and have fun :D

If you were to stay in though, you could hone your chipping and putting skills using a V-Easy... :p

Toooo much ;)

Isn't the fascination with golf the fact that you can stand on the first tee not knowing what you are going to shoot that day? We all stand there with expectations of a great round and have all been brought back down to earth with a bump.
By the same token, we have all stood on the first tee at sometime or another not really looking forward to playing because we just "know" we are going to have a bad round and then proceed to shoot the lights out.
Get out there and play.
Knob
:D :D :D

Isn't it facinating that some poor guy reads all the crap on here about bandits and is afraid to go and score for fear of name calling!!

Reads all the crap about slow play and is scared to play in case he holds other players up!!

Oh to be such a bloody good player that you never lose a ball and time on a course or always play within the buffer zone so can never be labelled a bandit and also have the command of the keyboard to upset other poor souls, learning the game and steal their enjoyment!

Get out there and play my boy and show them what you are made of - bugger the keyboard bullies!

Class Replies gents..... :D :D :D
Well im booked in now for sunday morning.....
Iv spent the past 2 hours at the range practicing my putting and chipping and trying to get a litle consistency in my Irons.
Thanks for all the words of encouragement and advice.....Most appreciated ;)
