Should I play or should I (not) go?

Whenever my wife is on her weekend off work, she doesn't like me heading out to play golf on both days.

I've played in our Winter League today, and have the chance to go out again tomorrow. My wife says I can go and play if I want, but I'm suspicious... I think it may be a trap, and it will come back later to bite me.

So, should I play? Or should I go? I don't want to go and live to regret it for months to come...

Ah, the key words there, in my experience are 'if you want'. Be careful, I sense this could hurt in the long run.

Ya know 'if you want'I can see the comeback now, 'i thought, and obviously I was wrong, but I thought! You might WANT to spend time with me, not hitting balls in a field then coming home andmoaning about it to me and expecting sympathy! I think my mother was right!'

Maybe both days is pushing it.

Would look for early tee time so you get back in time to go shopping, look after grandkids or go to church😄

I'd probably savethe Sat/Sun games for a weekend where you really do have to play both days in comps etc

Having said that I played winter league today and a friendly bash tomorrow, but then, I cancelled out a game on Friday so's not to do 3 days in a row!

Deffo a trap! Don't fall for it! It will cost you! You will get home to find out she has been online shopping or worse been out shopping and has done a couple of hundred quid on clothes that will stay in the wardrobe with their labels on!

Just say no, your bank balance is safer if you stay home. Plus you should get dinner.

Exact same situation for me. I'm off to the course for round 2 now.

Edit: I should add that I spent all afternoon/evening yesterday decorating, and am looking at the same this evening. So there is a trade off!

I have pretty much the same scenario with HID working every other weekend. Saturday is comp day so every other Sunday is a golfless day BUT she has been off work with a bad back for the last four weeks and spends most of the day on the sofa. If I didn't take advantage of the glorious sunshine today she would have to watch football on tele all afternoon so she is quite happy to see the back of me. I have peeled the spuds though before I disappear.

We don't do Valentine's Day, haven't for years so that was no issue... and she can spend hundreds online any day of the year. She already has a wardrobe full of unworn clothes, many of which still have labels.

Anyway, this morning's conversation went something like this...

Her: What time are you tee'ing off?
Me: I'm not. I played yesterday and thought I'd spend some time with you and help with the housework.
Her: No you're not! You just get under my feet when you're at home! Bugger off to the golf and give me peace!
Me: No, its ok. (fibbing) I'd rather stay here and help out.
Her: I'd rather you were out of my sight. That way I can get stuff done without you and catch up on my Tivo watching.
Me: Are you sure?
Her: Yes. Now go in the shower, get changed and p*** off out to the golf.

I guess she's ok with it after all... :D
