Looking to book my holiday for mid/late may and looking at short haul options. Normally go long haul but fancy a change. Looking for sun, ideally all inclusive to keep the bar bill down but like options near by if possible. Adults only would be perfect. Never been to anywhere like Canaries so have no idea but a bit nervy of using previous options like Turkey or Northern Cyprus.

Any suggestions

Canary islands are about 3 1/2 hrs from Gatwick and will be nicely warm in late May. But can't recommend anything specific as regards resort as we always go to the same place - which is sort of a "private" resort. Could also try southern Spain - Almeria - that too will be nicely warm and is a bit less developed than the Costas.

We went to Cyprus in September and it was lovely. We stayed at Aphrodite Hills which was fantastic. Had its own golf course too.

Meloneras in Gran Canaria. Went last year to a family friendly hotel but there are a couple that are (I'm sure) adults only. Very nice resort, small with a walk along the seafront that has some nice shops, bars and restaurants for a change of scene from AI hotel.

Going back to Cape Verde myself, the Riu Toureg. 6 hrs on a short haul plane not overly wonderful but well cheap and adults only section too all inclusive...and their beer isnt bad either:)

Mare Blue Aelos in Corfu would be my first choice. Kids allowed but all inclusive with great food and beer. Very close to the beach and Corfu old town if you fancy a jaunt out.

Think you need to decide where exactly you want to go and although I say it myself am pretty clued up on Spain/ Canary Isles of GC and Tenerife. All inclusive I am unable to help with though.

Santa Cruz Tenerife Hotel Mencey. Playa Del Inglis GC Hotel Marina Gold ,adults only.

Malaga Brand new top of the range Hotel 5* Mir a mar

Galicia for seafood and fish, Santiago,de Compastella? San Sebastián in Basque Country for food , food and more food, Great beaches

Our flights have been with Thomson. Havent been to Sal, but I'm told its a bit greener than Boa Vista where we have been. I think also the airport is larger at Sal so they can take larger planes.
