Gents,

Back playing, handicap 22.1

Things coming together....except short game.

90 yards and closer i'm struggling, wasting 5-6 shots per round.

I'm considering a chipper, something like a cleveland niblick?

Just for the next 12-18 months til i get a game together and confidence around the green.

Any advice? :D

Either buy a V-Easy or get a lesson. Putting and short game are always the hardest to get back for me if I have a break. I would suggest your technique is probably a little rusty and 30 minutes with your pro will get you sorted

Chippers can be useful but they are a bit one dimensional and lack the variety of shots you can get with an iron varying the ball position and how much you open the face.

I'd sooner give golf up than have a devils staff in my bag. Chippers should be sent to golfing room 101 alongside caddy's lining up their players on every shot - are you listening Robert Rock

With 1 more to add Homer.....Ball Retrievers........

RG Dave,

yeah, my driving is improving vastly, taking me to a different distance on a lot of holes, 100 yeards and under.

Ok with a full PW, but after that i have no confidence in trying to execute a shot from say 70 yards.

When i am finding myself around the green, say 10-20 yards, my chipping is woeful, nowhere need good enough (ie, not giving myself an opportunity of a 1 putt)
