My birthday next week and I've got the day off so looking to get some new wedges. My mate is also after a new hybrid so is coming along.

Looking for a shop with a wide range of clubs from all brands, new tech and some older models from last season etc. Obviously want to try before we buy so would need a range/launch monitor. Not after a custom fit, just off the shelf.

Anyone got any recommendations? I'm located near Birmingham but as I've got the day off I don't mind travelling a bit, maximum 2 hours in the car sort of thing.

Was thinking clubhouse golf in Manchester but welcome to suggestions.

If your not after a custom fitting is it worth the long travel? Why don't you just go to your local American Golf/Direct golf? Don't they all have a range/bay you can hit in?

My local ones are both quite small and don't have much variety. Plus they never stock 58* wedges, only 52*, 56* and 60* and I use 52/58 combo. And I don't trust the American golf launch monitors that much, numbers always seem far too good to be true.

I played at Enville a few weeks back & i have never seen a shop with so much stock plus they will price match.
Not sure about launch monitor but the range & short game practice area's are superb.

Trent Lock at Long Eaton have an American Golf attached to the club so you can take equipment on to the driving range. The fitter there is good too, an old chap but I can't remember his name.

Golfsupport shop in Mansfield is the best for value and even though the shop isn't the biggest the warehouse is MASSIVE. They have a sim as well and the guys are knowledgeable and don't bullsh you into buying new stuff...I went for a driver fitting with my old driver and nothing was better, the fitter gave me a roll of face-strike stickers and to go and have a range session instead.

If you want the ultimate experience go to Tour X golf.

I suspect you won't find much in Direct Golf nowadays;)

I'd agree with the Trent Lock suggestion, the chap did my first ever fitting a few years ago, seem to remember he is one of Mizuno's specialist fitters if it's the same guy.
