I was looking at my scores on HDID for last season.

Who on here shoots their handicap or hits buffer week in week out???

Looking at my scores from last year I played 18 medals.
Hit my handicap and buffer not as much as I would have liked, just over buffer quite alot but popped up with 3 or 4 under my handicap on a few occasions to bring my handicap down.

I would like to work on my swing a bit this year, shorten my swing and lose a few yards for accuracy of need be.
Just need to find the time for that :p

Quite often hit buffer but handicap a lot less often and occasionally I'll get under my handicap for a cut with some .1s thrown in for good measure.

I read somewhere that the average player who plays once a week with a steady handicap, will play to handicap about 6 times a year.

Obviously if you are an improving player then the figure will be much higher, but will eventually plateau.
30 points plus represents a respectable day at the office for most people

looking at my results from all of last year and all comps I buffered or better 3 times out of 18 so 1 in 6.... pants!

It also just shown me how little I played so partly explains my poor showing overall.

Last year I played 24 qualifiers, had 8 cuts, 6 buffers and 10 0.1s. Of those 0.1s some of the golf was truly awful so even though my handicap came down, I'd like to be a bit more consistent this year.

Congu did an analysis of results for their Annual Report flagging.

They found a very good correlation with End-of-year Handicap. Average score was about 1.25*Handicap + 1.5. (actually 1.237* and +1.57).

So points depends on Category - Cat 1 expected to be closer to 36 than Cat 4.

Last six months for me work out a follows... 59% over bz, 22% in bz, 19% below.... So I guess three rounds out of five will leave you feeling blue, holding your own in one... living the dream 1 in 5 is good enough for me :D

I was pretty sure that Congu said 30% of comps should be played to a players handicap in a year

Nah!

Maybe 'within buffer or to handicap' and even that seems a tad high. Gut feel would be 25% Handicap or Buffer; 65% over Buffer; 10% Under handicap.

The figures CONGU quote as the basis for CSS calculation are 30 to 57% in buffer or better for cat 1 players and 23 to 45% for cat 3 players.
