Whilst some people have a moan about manufacturers bringing new clubs out every few weeks nobody moans about shoes.
It seems to me FJ bring out a new shoe every 5 minutes in comparison.
Each shoes promising something new and better than before.
Well if we feel a club has been improved and theres no more improvement left, whats your thought on shoes.

I started to reply and was describing the mainly cosmetic changes for shoes. Then I realised the same was true for drivers. I then started to write about the big change to spikeless to bring about greater comfort when I realised drivers made a similar leap for adjustability and then came back to cosmetic changes again. So in the end, I can't argue the point and I don't quite know what I am saying.

I don't look at shoes other than when my current ones lose their waterproofing or become uncomfortable. A change in style holds no interest for me but then again I am 45 and not 20. I do look at drivers however as like every gullible golfer I want to believe a new shiny will make up for my swing deficiencies.

Id be more inclined to buy new shoes every year at least there is a chance they could be goosed in that time if you played a fair bit.

I suppose as well shoes are not constrained by regulations like clubs are.

I like shoes. there i said it! Just hope my club doesnt ban adizero's as I now have 4 pairs! thank you sports direct!

I Like the look of the new adidas ones released today, Trying to clarify if they are doing a gripmore (Spikeless) one, I think they are but very fuzzy details so far...

Refresh - nicely put.
So TM Ping Callaway etc are refreshing their drivers?

No I genuinely mean refresh, for example the FJ sport has been around for years now as has the dryjoy tour but it looks different every year.

FJ tend to bring one out and drop one, last year the DNA replaced the XPS (I think that's what it was called).

I get 2 or 3 years from a pair of shoes normally but to be fair I probably have around 6 pairs or so now so they get well rotated

The shoes I have today are no more comfortable or waterproof than the shoes I had 5 years ago. Will always look at last seasons shoes on sale rather than shell out on the new release that doesn't do anything different.

Are you miniHomer???;)

They have to keep bringing out shoes to keep up with Homer's fetish :D

..and my minor one. They can bring out as many shoes as they want, if I had less self control (and more money) I'd have a lot more than the 5 pairs I currently have.

Shoes are, to a large extent, just a fashion item and so I have no issue buying the odd new pair because I like the look of them or want something a bit different. I just wish that companies would stop trying to sell shoes as game improvement products, just sell them as what they are, the same basic product with a different look

I feel the same about most club launches :D

To be honest I tend to go for the Icon or Dryjoy and find most of these other designs don't suit my eye via Myjoys. If I was going to get a pair I'd go for a conventional off the shelf model but to be honest not many have caught my eye including the DNA. I got my XPS free and not sure I'd have bought a pair

Dn't mind the multiple launches. Just means the previous version hits the discount sell off sooner! Does anyone pay full price?

I'd say golf shoes are probably better looking nowadays than they're ever been. There's SO MUCH choice. Love the look of the FootJoy DNAs and the like. And because they're a fashion item I understand regular updates. But to be honest, if you've got a good pair why do you need more?

Have to say I only have 1 pair of golf shoes (FootJoy DryJoys) and they were a pressie from Golf Monthly over 6 years ago (testing panel). So far they've been a dream. I did splash out on their first replacement pair of laces over Xmas though. :-)
