On another thread a few days ago, someone else mentioned this problem.

I tend to use Dubbin wax on my shoes every few months to maintain their water resistance, but still end up with wet feet during heavy rain.
I think the rain runs down the front of my waterproof trousers and neatly funnels through the laces.

I too mourn the demise of the "kiltie" flap that all traditional golf shoes used to have.
It's only now that I realise that they weren't just decorative and irritating!

Who else has this problem and have you tried /succeeded in fixing it?

As a last resort, Sealskinz are on my Santa list, but at £30 a pair...
I play a lot of golf so would need three or four pairs to wash and wear.

I was hoping for some hints to stop water ingress.

I've looked at hiking gaiters but they are really to keep mud off trousers and i'm not convinved they will do what I need.
Am seriously considering wrapping a couple of turns of cling film over laces and under instep...
