Following on from the Footjoy thread I thought it may be interesting to broaden the scope to include all brands and give a bit of feedback on quality.

I'll start. Last 4 pair of shoes (can't remember any further back)

2007 - Oakley - Excellent - still use as practice shoes.
2008 - Oakley - Excellent - still in use
2013 - Ecco Streets - Excellent - super comfy although inner shoe colour did come off on my new white socks.
2013 - Oakley Tour - Excellent - only worn once though.

No issues at all with any of them.

I will leave FJ out of this as I have commented on them already. Of the other pairs that I have:

Addidas Adizero: OK. Some wear on the heel inner and fading on the grey colouring on the outside.
Mizuno Stability: Excellent, look like new.
Nike Tour Premium: Excellent, still immaculate but as they are plain white I will admit to only using these in better weather conditions.

Footjoy: Currently own 4 pairs and have pretty much only ever had footjoy. Never had a waterproofing issue and always been happy.

The XPS-1s do appear to have an issue with the sole cracking. My second pair is starting to go in the same place as the first and since they were fitted by Russ from FJ (the same Russ I believe who replied to the other thread) I can only assume it to be a design issue.

Apart from that, never had an issue with FJ

Mizuno Stability:- as waterproof as a teabag after 4 months
Footjoy XPS:- tongue dug into the top of my foot initially but are now very comfortable, no leakage even in the worst weather
Addidas 360:- sent back after 2 weeks as the inside at the back had worn away
Cotswolds:- cheap pair bought for £10 in a sale, not the most comfortable but very waterproof

Last four pairs of shoes I have had:-

  • Adidas ATV 360 Tour - Size 9.5W Excellent shoe, wore them for a few months until the material on the inside heel wore out and started giving me blisters. They were very comfortable and always waterproof. Very good build quality bar the material inside the heel.
  • Adidas ATV 360 Tour - Size 9.5W, bought to replace the above pair, but for whatever reason I just couldn't wear them, they gave me blisters and I got rid on Ebay. Very good build quality.
  • Footjoy M-Project Spiked, Size 10, Very very comfortable shoe, worn over many rounds, no blisters at all, cracking in the dry, but in the wet they let in water, probably through the tongue area, so a dry weather shoe only. Average build quality, sort the tongue area out and they would be excellent shoes.
  • Puma Cell Fusion 3, Size 10, So far the most comfortable golf shoe I have owned and worn. They have been through several very wet rounds and my feet have remained bone dry, quality wise superb.

Addidas tech response 4.0, nice, light, comfy, wet. They are mesh though, so no surprise.
Addidas brown leather. Threw insole away as there was too much foot movement causing blisters. Reasonably waterproof, comfy.
Footjoy classics tour. Heavy, never been waterproof. Nice leather.
Footjoy classics, two pairs, beautiful shoes, dry use only.
Church golf shoes. Not waterproof, tongue can be uncomfortable.
Darren Clarke stubarts. Waterproof, but rub on heel.
Nike dunk. Wide as a wide thing. Not waterproof, too many ventilation holes. Comfy as though.
Footjoy xps1. A bit narrow. Don't wear very often.
Ecco street. Well made, comfy, wet, smell of cat wee.
Ecco biom hybrid. Well made, comfy, wet.
Ecco tour gtx. Well made, yet to wear on course.

All currently in use.

I've only had 3 pairs

Seve branded something or others which were perfectly fine, only bought them to "try out" the game as they were cheap still have them somewhere

Adidas adizero, these are excellent very waterproof and well made but then they are £170 odd quid

Oakley ripcords, these are wonderfully comfortable but I've just had to send them back as they seemed to be letting in water so I'll be testing oakleys customer service in the next few days/weeks

Ashworth Cardiff, awesome shoe, very comfortable although quite narrow so might not suit the wider feet gentleman. Spikeless as well so only used in the summer months. Best shoe I have owned

FJ Sport, Brilliant...haven't read the FJ thread yet but I've had no problems with my Sports what so ever, waterproof, comfy (although not as comfy as the Cardiffs) and easy to clean. Had two pairs of Adidas before these, both of which I took back because they were terrible.

Really want to get a pair of Kikkor's but I'm not a fan of their new range.

1 Pair of AQL's - about to come back into play
1 Pair of myJoy Contours - about to be taken out of play until next year
1 Pair of myJoy Contour Casuals - about to get their first taste of battle (may take my others with me just in case!)

Never had a problem with Footjoy at all!

Darren Clarke Stuburts; Well made, some initial heel rub on one pair, tongue slightly long on another so slight discomfort (still being broken in), waterproof, feel bombproof (if you like a lightweight shoe the look elsewhere), recommended at the right price.

Eccos (many and various); Well made, no discomfort, wide variety of styles and soles, waterproof (Bioms excepted as not tested). First choice if looking for a new pair.

Nike; tried 3 different pairs, found all rubbed & were uncomfortable, came to the conclusion that their last didn't suit my feet, moved onto Eccos.

At the risk of being ostracized can I give a small mention to Dunlop, I have a pair that I dig out when I am between shoes and they never let me down, comfortable and waterproof and a fraction of the cost of "bigger" named brands. Right i'll go back and sit in the corner again.

I have a 22 year old, yes 22 YO, pair of softjoys brogues. I’m having a job getting spikes for them but I still wear them quite often. A little bit of dubbin now and then and I’ve never had wet feet with them. Awesome shoes, classic style.
White footjoy tours................again brilliant, comfy and have a wide platform for stability.
3 pairs of AQL brown and white, black and white and grey and white. Good price, good shoes.
1 Pair of Icons, black. Dont wear them much for some odd reason!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Pair ecco street but I don’t use them for golf.

adidas - Samba Golf x2, Puremotion x2, adiZero, Nuevo, Crossflex: all comfortable, no issues
adidas - adiPure Motion x2: not worn yet
Puma - Clyde: not comfy so gave them away
