Whilst standing on the tee today, the only tee I had in my pocket broke as I teed up my ball. To save time, as my bag was some distance away, my fellow competitor gave me one of his. Is this sharing equipment?

I understand the definition of equipment but the exception of a tee being equipment is when it is used to mark the position of a ball or the extent of an area in which a ball is to be dropped.

Technically yes but why are you concerned, nothing in the rules to stop it.

Theres nothing in the rules to say you can't share equipment (other than clubs). Decision 5-1/5 clarifies that sharing balls, tees, towels etc is fine.
