Hi, does anyone have a rough idea in relation to swing speed / shaft stiffness?

Had a result on the footy midweek and thinking of a new driver to compliment my new shiney irons due to arrive monday. I would see my pro but he's gone on maternity leave for a month and ideally want to buy it now before the weather makes it harder to get out and practice. Looking at some basic graphs it would appear my swing speed with irons is approx 100mph judging by carry distances.

Would it be a regular shaft I'd need?

Also, anybody have an experience with the Diamana Kai 'li shaft as have seen a bit of buzz about this shaft and have found some drivers with it fitted instead of the stock shafts.

100 mph driver speed, possibly, and around 85 6 iron.

This is probably on the border of reg and stiff in iron shafts but a lot depends on other aspects of the swing as well as variations between shaft types. The Mizuno Swing DNA demo club is a good starting point for shaft choices but a proper fitting is better again.

Like I say, that's only using charts I've seen online but they appear to be consistent. Pw 120, 7 iron 150, 5 iron 170.

Just for a comparison my distances are about 10yds more than yours, and my 6 iron speed is around 89mph. Driver just over 100mph.

The Kai'li works for me in a driver in stiff flex.

You must strike the ball badly as my iron SS is nowhere near 100mph and I hit the ball about the same distance. Are you sure 100mph isn't your driver speed?

I play of 28! I'm sure I hit it badly! But I never said I swung my irons 100mph. Just said that the chart of seen online suggested it. It must be misleading.basically I was just after advise re Diamana Kali shaft and shaft flex

I think if you went on a launch monitor you'll be in for a surprise about the distance you actually do get. It's common for players to think they hit certain yardage with clubs, but that depends on how your irons loft are set up. I know my PW is 48* my dads Mizuno PW is 44. Take a look at this link which will give you basic idea of what you need to think about when delving into clubs.

i don't advocate TM, (or any other OEM's that do) these adjustable weights system. But it gives an insight, or look on Wishon golf for custom fitting issues and myths.

Im pretty confident I hit the distances measured. Of the course I play, there are specific par threes I hit with those distances/clubs

A player with a 6 iron swing speed of 100 mph will have a driver speed in the low 120s. With good ball striking that player will hit driver about 300 yards, 5 iron 210, 7 iron 180 and PW 145 or so. Rory McIlroy is around that swing speed.

He uses Project X 6.5 and X flex driver shaft with extra tipping to add further stiffness.

With all due respect to the OP, I suspect he has mixed up the numbers somewhere. Fittings throw up a lot of numbers in a short space of time.

In any case, getting a decent fitting is a good idea whether your swing speed is 90 or 120.

Like I said, was only going off off what the charts say. I wasn't implying that I knew I had a swing speed that fast. I expect that the charts actually refer to ball speed.

Get fitted mate f you can. Trying to look at charts and relate it to anything is just educated guess work. I have high swing speed that relates to an X-Stiff in irons. But even that does not tell the complete picture. Using the TTDG X-100 shaft gave me a better ball flight, more spin and 10 yards more distance over the KBS Tour X-Stiff during my fitting.

Not quite answering your question, but just trying to make an example of how a fitting for the perfect shaft can help.
