For all you custom fit guys out there, can anybody tell me if the same driver shaft would perform the same way in diff driver heads.

Reading some of these posts I am kind of thinking that alot of you guys an here read to much into golf and the equipment, I have been playing golf 27 years and have hear all sorts of people saying about different clubs chafts and degrees on different clubs, I am inclined to find a club that suits me and go with that. I think the more you think about something the more things can go wrong.. A great old saying Grip it and rip it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Custom fit is the only way to go, its the same as any other part of life, you dont use the wrong equipment to do the job. Everybody is different and club manufactures have different opinions of what standard is!!! With the correct loft, lie and shaft your score could really drop. Even using the wrong ball can hurt your game, all club golfers believe using the same gear as the pro will help but it wont.
On the matter of re-shafting your driver mate it should be fine as long as its done properly.

I promise i didnt write that!!

No, a driver shaft can be completely different in the same head, let alone a different one. You can 'step' the shaft to make it stiffer, so a regular will become more like a stiff shaft.

The shaft has a 'spine' which needs to be assembled on the under side, or that too will affect the way it performs.

Some heads have a bore through shaft (Titleist), and some do not (Taylormade). This would effectively move the kick point in the shaft.

In reality, get someone to fit it who knows what they are doing.

To step the shaft in making it stiffer you need to cut the shaft, if this was a regular, standard length, what would be the point in cutting it???? Unless you want a 30 insch shaft!!! :D

Shaft says: Custom fitting is a waste of cash maaan!!

:o

Craigy_Mac, you have assumed that the shaft in question is 2nd hand. What if you had two driver heads, and 2 new previously unfitted identical shafts. You could then do what ever you wanted.

Or, you could step the 2nd hand shaft, and end up with a very short but stiff driver. Useful for banging in nails.

Parmo, with the best wiil in the world, you still haven't got it. Custom fitting is FREE at many places. Or, more correctly, the cost of fitting is already figured into the price of the clubs, which you will pay whether you are fitted or not.
