Shaft weights?

Ok I have not got much to do so. I have been weighing shafts? When you see shafts advertised they state the weight 60g 65g 70g whatever. Now when you weigh them the weight is nowhere near, that figure.

So would I be right in thinking it is the weight of the carbon cloth they are made of that dictates the weight. I.e 65g per sq metre or whatever scale they use?

I was always under the impression (Ethan or another more clued up individual will probably correct me) that the weight of the shaft was more to do with getting a desired swing weight that a player feels comfortable with.

So how far out are they Dave?

It was only an assumption, but I've always thought a 65g shaft weighed 65g?

A good 10/15 grammes out. They have been weighed on err very good gramme scales.

maybe the quoted weight is before the paint finish is applied.
