I probably sh*nk the ball once or twice a year. Today I managed to fit two shockers in, both of which ended up as double bogies. Little 30yd pitches with the sand wedge, both went off at right angles and one of them just about decapitated a FC.

Unfortunately the last one was on the 18th... what a thing to dwell on for the next few days!!:(

The round itself had some great positives. 12 out of 14 fairways, and 11 GIR's. Putting wasn't great, 34 putts, with 4 birdie putts missed from inside 5ft, and one of those ended up as a 3 putt.

The long game was really good, and distance control on the long irons was fantastic. Poor putting and sh*nks spoilt what could have been a cracking score. 80-5=75(par 72)

I know a guy called Hobbit on a golf forum, absolute demon with the putter. Any relation??

If you are sure your sockets are coming from an out to in swing path (looking at your handicap index they may well not be.) But if you are just get a 9i & set up at address with one ball opposite the toe & one ball opposite the heel.
Now address the 'outside toe positioned' ball but now in the middle of your club face make a 3/4 swing (it's a drill so just do it at 75% speed through impact) simply take the club back from the outside ball but come back to hit the inside ball.

If though given your handicap index (& you're not a fader of the ball much but draw a lot of your shots) take a look at this video, I'm afraid his delivery is labored a ways, but if you stick with it he'll give you a couple of drills that should be really useful. Again best not to go flat out with these drills & the object is actually to produce a small hook with both, it's just to get a feeling that should be helpful some if you are a golfer who sockets shots with an in to out swing path.

Sounds like you may be opening the face a touch and getting a bit on the inside on the backswing.
Try taking it back a bit straighter and keep the toe of the club pointing down a bit longer.
Standing an inch further away at address wouldn't do any harm either.

Cheers Bob. I had opened the face on both shots, trying to get close to a short sided pin over a bunker.

Hobbit, I can only apologise, just sending me a couple of pm's on the subject seems to have infected you.

The dreaded shank........ we saw a few of them on the Bracken course last week didn't we Nick. I think the most spectacular one was at the 8th after I hit a lovely 4i leaving a 50 yard pitch straight down the green. Which ended up in the ditch 20 yards right of target LOL

Had them for 5 weeks now. Can't shift them despite lessons...tempted to give the game up!

Certainly did Adey, and on the Hotchkin.

Funny but I don't seem to remember "spectacular" being amongst the words you used to describe it last week.....
