Got an extra round in with CVG and Fragger today, started about 9.15.
At the 2nd hole we began to wait behind a 4-ball who in turn were behind a 4-ball.
Everything ground to a snail's pace.
When we crawled to the 7th tee, the group in front apologised for being slow but the 4-ball ahead was a Match and therefore were not going to let anyone through....

So what if it's a Match? Unless it's an advertised Inter-Club Match it's just ordinary Golf - if you're playing slow - let groups through.
I know some clubs have a Competitions have priority rule but we haven't.

The fact that they'd almost lost a hole on the "Match" seemed irrelevent. And anyway, if we couldn't get through the "match" there didn't seem much point in pushing.
Fragger had to walk off after 15 - he ran out of time and I only just had time to throw a drink down my neck following a Toastie before I had to dash off too.
The "Match" finished on 15 - they then walked the short distance to the 18th and went in. The 4 in front of us (now a 2-ball) just seemed to slow down even more. Both me and CVG had half decent cards going but the final remnants of a will to live ebbed away.
I timed them from putting the flag back in on 16, walking the 70 yards to the 17th tee and then teeing off.

It took them 4 minutes - it took 1 guy a whole minute on his own.
On 15 we hit 3 tee shots to the par 3 and 2chips and a putt + the 160 yard walk before they'd finished teeing off the next.
By then it was obvious they were not going to let us through so we just accepted it and made remarks when they were within earshot.........

Glorious day - some glorious golf (and some shite too!), glorious company and 8 aresholes who should be shot at dawn!!
Hoping for better tomorrow!

Bring a gun instead of the ball retriever just in case :D :D :D :D

Our 4 ball seems to have a bad knack of booking in behind gobshites like that for the past 5 rounds or so...Its not enjoyable...Especially when im playing shite golf too.

Had a similar situation last night.

Popped down for a post-work 9 holes and tee'd off about 7 behind two 2-balls. One was a middle-aged man and his wife who were fairly competent golfers, then there were the jokers infront of me, in a buggy. Even with a buggy, they were agonisingly slow, so I decided to play two balls on most holes.

Anyway, I got to the 5th and noticed they'd given up waiting at the 6th and skipped onto the 8th fairway (cutting infront of a couple of two balls, right after they'd not bothered to rake two bunkers they'd hacked themselves into )

"great" I thought, I'll be held up less. So I played the 6th and 7th with a "new" two ball in front that wasn't the middle aged couple, they'd obviously played through.

I caught up with them on the 8th and they waved me through as they'd lost their ball.

No problem, I played through, thanked them and before I knew it was on the 9th tee.

After a short wait for the middle aged couple, I creamed my drive down the 9th fairway (only 250 yards though :( ;)).

I waited for the green to clear and began preparing to make my approach to the green.

No sooner had I started, did the blokes on the tee behind me tee off, with the first ball flying past me (thankfully 25 yards to my right in the rough)...At this point, I'm thinking "They'll see how far that went and will wait to play their next tee shot", so I address the ball and as I'm swinging, I hear a ball bounce behind me (about 5 or 6 yards away) and roll behind me past where I'm standing.

this naturally causes me to thin my second shot over the back...That wasn't what pee'd me off though. I was shocked that the two blokes tee'd off before I'd taken my second and didn't even shout fore, when the ball was quite clearly heading in my direction.

 Bloody hackers!

I did mention that to CVG on the 17th tee - then I smacked a 285 yarder down there after them....

Aerial bombs.Better again... :D :D :D

Just for the record in case someone decides to let fly with a rant over hitting down on top of the group in front im not condoning the act...

But its a little sfaer than being shot :D :D :D

Next time that happens pick up the ball place it on a tee and send it back to them.
