Imurg
The Grinder Of Pars (Semi Crocked)
Got an extra round in with CVG and Fragger today, started about 9.15.
At the 2nd hole we began to wait behind a 4-ball who in turn were behind a 4-ball.
Everything ground to a snail's pace.
When we crawled to the 7th tee, the group in front apologised for being slow but the 4-ball ahead was a Match and therefore were not going to let anyone through....
So what if it's a Match? Unless it's an advertised Inter-Club Match it's just ordinary Golf - if you're playing slow - let groups through.
I know some clubs have a Competitions have priority rule but we haven't.
The fact that they'd almost lost a hole on the "Match" seemed irrelevent. And anyway, if we couldn't get through the "match" there didn't seem much point in pushing.
Fragger had to walk off after 15 - he ran out of time and I only just had time to throw a drink down my neck following a Toastie before I had to dash off too.
The "Match" finished on 15 - they then walked the short distance to the 18th and went in. The 4 in front of us (now a 2-ball) just seemed to slow down even more. Both me and CVG had half decent cards going but the final remnants of a will to live ebbed away.
I timed them from putting the flag back in on 16, walking the 70 yards to the 17th tee and then teeing off.
It took them 4 minutes - it took 1 guy a whole minute on his own.
On 15 we hit 3 tee shots to the par 3 and 2chips and a putt + the 160 yard walk before they'd finished teeing off the next.
By then it was obvious they were not going to let us through so we just accepted it and made remarks when they were within earshot.........
Glorious day - some glorious golf (and some shite too!), glorious company and 8 aresholes who should be shot at dawn!!
Hoping for better tomorrow!
