They lost it in the first leg playing Neville ,Giggs and Scholes and as for Carrick what a waste of time they should have had it wrapped up but a tremendous goal from the guy from swan lake ,some serious diving and tight tearing .

I loved it. I thought United were bereft of an outlet in the 2nd half and Fergie had no tactical nous about him. He just sat there as if to say to the players you go and osrt it. I thought Ribery was a disgrace though trying to get players booked but it was a great strike to win. Even then United never chased the game.

This time tomorrow Fulham will be the only English team left in Europe

Was a good game to watch. Bit dissapointed no English teams left but not that bothered Man Utd going out, would have liked to have seen Chelsea and Arsenal in there but not to be. When Robben is fit and on his game there are few better wingers around IMO. He certainly seemed to enjoy his goal a bit :D Think the fact he turned Utd down Twice and he was getting all sorts of abuse might have had something to do with it!!! Good luck to Fulham tomorrow. Not bothered what LFC do no time for Rafa at all.

The referee was s**t tonight. He got so many decisions wrong. How can rafeal's pull on Ribery be worth a yellow when one of the Bayern players completely takes out Valencia half way up the shin (with a 20 yard run up!) and only get a yellow?

Rafael should have gone - 2 stupid yellows.
Ribery should have been yellowed for almost thumping Rafael after the pullback and getting in the ref's face.
ManU lost to a superb goal.

But it's yet another display of blatant cheating from Bayern (this time). How many players ran to the ref brandishing "air yellows"? This has got to stop. Let the ref do the work. Ok he may get it wrong sometimes - live with it. But to have half a team shouting at you to book someone has to be wrong. Easy to overcome - book anyone who does it.

No english teams in the semi's - shows what a lot have said that the standard has dropped this season. Apart from Barca I don't think the other teams have got better.
Roll on the World Cup!

It is perhaps a good thing to not get success too easily, it breeds laziness and lowers standards. Bayern have always been a top side so some years they're going to win over English sides. It's not a reason to panic too much.

Rafael's second yellow was ok in my book as he was trying to stop Ribery in a dangerous area but the first one was pathetic and probably cost Utd a place in the semi - simple lack of self control. You got tripped, don't take a huff and kick out at the guy who tripped you (a la Beckham 98) right in front of an official stupid. You're not paid thousands of pounds a week to behave like that. Just play the game and let the Officials dish out the punishments. These players are supposed to be professional. That yellow may have seemed unimportant at the time but it turned out to be crucial. :(

Everyone’s a cheat. Every single player that plays this game cheats non stop. Sadly it’s what the sport has become.

I like to watch Man U, always fairly entertaining and would always support any british team against foreign opposition.

To be fair to Man U they played a blinder in the first half,
I was as surprised as anyone when he played Rooney, but it shows the importance of the game to Man U to risk their best player.

Rafael was an idiot to get himself booked in the first place, if he hadnt retalliated, Utd would have had a free kick well inside the bayern half. Once you have that first Yellow, you just gotta back off a bit, he didnt and got what he deserved, I thought that the Bayern reaction to the second offence was very naughty and it did look that they were targeting Rooneys Ankle too, .

That Ribery is a bit of an animal isnt he.

fair to say that the First Bayern goal was sloppy defending, the sending off turned the tie and when Rooney got substituted, Berbitov didnt seem able to do much.

The question has been raised as to why we have no teams in the last 4 (for the first time in 7 years) I dont think that it is down to a fall in standards, Ok Ronaldo has gone from Utd, but Rooney has flourished in his place.

You cant analyse one set of results in isolation, you need to see trends. if we get none in the last 4 for the next 2 years then fair enough.

Meanwhile, Im rooting for Fulham

So Spurs fans will cheer on Arsenal in Europe will they??

Liverpool fans cheering for Man U last night were they??

Never gonna happen. Nice idea though.

I suppose it does make a mockery of England in the World Cup - say we get to the final and Rooney scores the winner - will all the Liverpool fans not cheer??

Another example of the fickle nature of football fans I suppose.

it's about time english footy fans realised the truth...

you DO NOT have the best league in the world! below the top 4 or 5 teams, the quality is shockingly bad for a league that holds itself so high!

the technical standard in spain is way better, the italian leauge is on the rise again, even the french league is better.

only way to prove my comments wrong is for england to win the world cup, but you'll probably go out in the 1/4 finals and it'll be someone elses fault!

How does one define 'the best league in the world'??

The quality of the players?? Foreign and home grown or just home grown??

The size of the clubs??

The fans??

Surely, it's on performance - in Europe. If that's the case then up until the start of this season the Premier League was the best in the world. Four of our clubs made it to the latter stages of the Champions League, one to the final and we did OK in the Europa League.

Things never stay the same so the other leagues have caught us up - that's a good thing.

We're being lead proudly by Fulham in the Europa Cup (Liverpool are doing OK but they should be out of Europe as they did so badly in the CL - IMO. Two bites of the cherry and all that).

So, best league in the world - not this season.

Best league is still England or Spain, toss up really. However both are dominated by the same sides year after year with only 4 clubs in with a chance of winning, better than just 2 in Scotland of course. 3 English clubs in final of champs league 5 years running is a great record. Seria A did fall well back and may be a little resurgent but Milan and Juventus still look poor.
