i have just got back from my club ,it was practically empty, save for about three groups . the weather today is fantastic ,light breeze and a very warm sun beating down .
i asked in the shop why so barren, not even the seniors are out,the reply made me chuckle a bit at first ,but then thought cripes that could be me soon .
the pro said that the seniors had an awayday on friday and cant manage two rounds so close together as they need the time to recover.
are the seniors at your place like mine and need a few days to be able to play again ?

Some, but not all of them. I know several who play the regular mens' round on Wednesday, play with the seniors on Fridays and are out again on Sunday. Same for some of the ladies, some of whom even play Thursdays and Fridays in the regular rounds and are then out for practice Saturday afternoon.

My mum is very relluctant to play Saturdays with me if she has played with the senior ladies on Friday, though. And even on Sundays she usually is only up for 9 or maybe 12 holes after that and I can tell that she tires out easily. My dad used to be more determined (and fitter) and played three times a week, but he has been out with a back injury all winter and at the moment is happy if he manages the 18 holes with the other seniors on Fridays now. They are both in their early seventies.

My band of cronies, aged from 70 to 80 plus play Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week and Seniors matches when they occur on a Thursday. I'll be joining them in a few years time!

No, they play 3 or 4 days a week and still fight for the prime times on a Saturday morning! OK, they are entitled to play at that time but considering they can play 7 days a week I think it's a bit inconsiderate to the working classes

We have a large (and growing) senior group who play comps every week as well as club matches and main club comps. They are also a key pn Iart of the Saturday morning roll-ups which wouldn't operate without them. In essence they are the backbone of the club and play on a very regular basis,

Some of us seniors can't manage every day. For some of us, twice a week is struggle.

We have a lot that play every day of the week bar Sunday's

And how old are you (if you don't mind me asking?). I guess the simple answer is dependant on how their knees, hips and backs hold up. I can see a lot struggling to play 4 times in 5 days

As you say, it depends on how lucky or otherwise you are with your health.

You know my age. 12 of us have just got back from a week in Belek, Turkey. We played 4 rounds in 6 days and it was hot. I buggied 2 rounds and walked 2 and survived. Now it's back to playing Tuesday, Friday and Sunday every week plus matches, knockouts and things like the Old Farts and the Gainsborough 8 versus Hotel Scum. We have to keep doing it as there's not enough time left.

No my dad is 64 with angina and he played 36 holes yesterday, our course is pretty hilly too. In between that he was gardening & today he is off to play another 18 holes, oh the life of a retired man

Supposedly in my fitth year as a 'senior' and the thought that I would need a couple of days to recover between rounds is a frightening one. Yesterday we played an 18 hole comp 60 miles from home, came back and played our own 9 hole comp. Saturday is an 18 hole comp and then a two day club outing to Blackpool with 18 holes on Sunday and Monday.

TBH I'm getting to the stage i struggle to play more than 3 games in a row

we have a jolly in Sept and we end up playing 5 or 6 games in a row over five days and i had to take a few days off after that
