Senior Section Fiddle Handicap

Within our senior section we run two trophies (not related to the Golf club,and we have always use our own handicap system and played off yellow tees,)the handicap is not our club one just for our fiddle, now the main committee are saying you cannot legally use our own handicap system and must revert back to CONGU,i thought they had relaxed that ruling and we could run our own system. Help please can we do this legally? or where can I go to find out?

Unless it's a Q competition you can legally do what the hell you like.

However, in any event run under the auspices of the club there will be a structure of authority that aims to avoid issues before they happen as well as resolving conflicts when they do happen. Their rulings represent the law in such situations!

I think the main committee are talking twaddle - or at least the rep telling you is! As it's entirely within your 'fiddle', you should be able to do what you like.

I actually believe that every fiddle/swindle should have its own handicap system. At 1 club, I played in 4 different swindles, each of which had their own system, only 1 of which was associated to the Congu one!

It's particularly relevant to Seniors, many of whom won't play in comps, or have handicaps that are significantly lower than their decreasing ability! At another club, the Seniors had their own system, but that was abandoned when Senior rollups were made qualifiers. With a noticeable decline in the attendance, that was changed to be 1 qualifier per week, with the 'old' method being reinstated for the other 2!
