thanks to a playing partner in Wednesday's medal I was given a freebie ticket for Woburn, not only did it get me in free but it also got me a £5 voucher for food and drink. (cheers John). I also got a free swing check and putting check.

good to see some of the old faces, some have still got it though overall the putting wasn't exactly sparkling, more than a few 3-putts. on the practice green they were so much better!
disappointed to see one or two whose caddies did eveything but play the shot. next the caddies will be wanting their names on the sheet.

Sam had started well (though with a new Cleveland bag and not a K1 in sight - I asked his caddy ;)) but had a mare on one hole and down came the shoulders. I really don't know if he's enjoying it anymore, you would he had the cares of the world on his shoulders.)

the 3rd on the Duke's Course has to be one of the best viewing holes in golf. well it would be if they had trimmed the height of the rhododendrons at the back of the green.

short par 3 played from an elevated tee over a mass of trees, shrubs and rhodo's into a steeply sloping green. one of those where backspin can kill you but not many seemed able to land it dead.

Was it Tony Johnstone who won this event ,like listening to his commentary he says it as it is and doesn't dance around anything.
Am i right in saying he has MS if so it makes the win even better. in my book.

My old man was at the Scottish at St Andrews the other week and stayed in the fairmont with many of the players. He reckons that it is really one big jolly for many of the guys espec the ones whom have done things in the game, several were 'socializing' until fairly late. The way it should be and he also said they were all open to a good bit of banter.

Tony J does have MS - an unusually late onset of a disease which usually starts in the teens or twenties. He has responded well to treatment and it doesn't seem to affect him much at this time.

I happened to meet him about 2 weeks ago at a clubfitters in Surrey. He was very friendly and seemed pretty down to earth.

Johnstone was one of those getting lined up. If he has MS this may explain it.
I managed to get a few photos around the course, some stewards weren't worried, others were more officious or just stood in front of me. I'll check them tonight and see if they are worth uploading.

I am lucky enough to be a member and have been for nearly 20 years. I can honestly say that the Dukes has never been in such superb condition as it was last week. The head green keeper said to me that they could have got the greens rolling as fast as 14 if they wanted to, but the seniors weren't happy with greens that fast!

the third was definitely slower than last year. most shots that hit the green stayed on, last year half of them were out the bottom.

I envy you playing there, still two chances to play in the offing for next year.

I don't visit the forums very often so I may have missed it. Is there to be a forum get together at Woburn?
