Playing here tomorrow (weather permitting), and just wondered if anyone has any experience of it? Looks, and I've heard it's hard, and looks particularly long, with quite a few par 5's. Excited for a round though, has been a while. Anyone played here recently? Should I expect temporary greens? or is it operating as normal at the minute?

This time of year greens can be a bit boggy but it's a great tree line course with loads of elevation changes. Could be something special if a golf course group owned it instead of being a bolt on to the hotel.

It's a good course, as described by OddSocks, long and up and down. Plenty of shots down in to valleys.

I've not played there nearly enough to know their habits with the greens though.

The par 3 17th is a tough green to hold...

Was in great condition. Not too wet or boggy, and the greens played well, were just a little bobbly. Played it okay, walked away with 33 points, but could have had so many more. Got myself in some great positions, and then threw it away with poor approach shots. Not bad considering I've not played for a couple of weeks though.

Only played it once (well twice on a Society stay and play deal) and have to say I thought the course was a fair test.

Hotel was awful though - had to change rooms because the shower was not working and the help they gave me to see that was done easily was non-existent! New room wasn't much better but at least the shower worked!
Dinner for our Society was signposted to the wrong room and many arrived too late for the first course! What a shambles!

Was glad to get out of there and will never go back !

Glad the OP enjoyed himself, as I said with most complaints they stem fro. The hotel side, would love to see the course sell to someone who had the course as a stand alone business, other than a seperate club house which is rumoured, 500k could turn that into a real gem
