selling shares

Hi,
I have small amount of Standard Life shares accrued as dividend payments.Can anyone advise the best way to sell these?
I have no share dealing experience.

I used to dabble about 10-15 years ago, but I used to do all my dealings via a Barclays sharedealings account or something like that. Try ringing your bank, they may do it as a one-off, but for a fee.

I have sold some shares a couple of years ago and used a company called equitini shareview, I think you just have to register with them and then you can sell by phone or online . The phone option is dearer but depending on the price on the particular day you decide to sell , it still can be worthwhile . You have to give the company name , the share certificate number and the number of shares you wish to sell , then send the certificate off to equitini and they will send you a cheque and if you haven't sold all your shares your revised certificate will be returned. The other thing you need to be aware of is anything over your capital gains tax allowance you will pay about 18 per cent on . I'm sure someone else will post a better response to the thread but this is just my personal experience.

Just call Standard life give them your share details . You don't have to sell all your shares you can keep a few, which will give you a vote in any upcoming matters. They will
sell them for you at the correct going rate on the day and pay it into your account.

Maybe he's selling his shares in north sea oil. Normally when the "Empire" gives the natural assets back to the barbarians, they balls it up.

Not really Doon,just a make over for the bathroom!!!!!
For what it is worth I would favour staying together,however followlng the Scottish thread(sounds like Shakespeare) I understand what a dilemma it is for us all.
My wife was born in Greenock,her Dad was a Scot I have told her if you all vote Yes we will emigrate to Fife and I will get a lot of links golf .
