Season's over?

Played 2 rounds yesterday (member of 2 clubs). Morning stuck at it well was only +3 on 16th tee and then the wheels fell off, pull hooked 2 drives into the hay left, lost 1st one and came off with a 7, then promptly shanked a 7 iron off the 17th tee and NR'd. Felt like the Big Golfer in the sky just shat on me!
PM played steady and made the buffer, some bandit got the css down. Missed too many putts basically.
Anyway I feel like the season's over, the wind in the afternoon was baltic and the leaves are coming off the trees. Quite sad really and thinking about sunnier climes.
Reading some posts about golf in Spain/Portugal - is it all it's cracked up to be? One of my golf pals has done the Spain thing but complained of heat and really bad 'chafing problems' cause of all the sweating etc.
Anyway I have wife and tot who dont like golf, how do I convince them that a week in the Algarve or Costa's is a great thing and how do I fit 'lots of golf' into this 'family' holiday and still appear to be a good dad/hubby???

Try going to a golf resort where you can rent a villa with a pool. Get up early in the morning thus avoiding the GA inducing heat. You'll get back mid morning to enjoy the whole of the day with your family. Everyone's a winner!

The man speaks sense! Given the choice between the two its Portugal for me every time. Penina and San Lorenzo are both fantastic and their is plenty to do away from the golf.

Ahh. Winter golf is almost upon us. I actually prefer some elements of it especially the fact you always have the course pretty much to yourself. Also: green fees are next to nothing, it's more of a challenge, you get to fully test out your Galvins and when it comes to the beginning of next season in nice weather on decent greens it feels like a piece of cake.

I always play right through the winter. What about everyone else?

I always play through the winter. If the course is open, I'm on it. The only thing that gets to me is the problem of it being dark at 4 o clock. No quick 9 after work til the clocks change. Mind you, we do have a night golf comp once a year which is fun.
