Oh well, I've only 1 comp left this season the weekend after this then it's 6 months of winter before resumption of playing comps in April 2010.
Best season I've had since 2005 and just equalled my best ever handicap after last Sunday so I'm sorry this season has to end.
Would love a few more comps to try and get to 3 but only one chance left. Not practicing at all now either so not too hopeful.

How long do some of you keep playing medals until? I live too high up for the season to run much past early October as frosty nights are just about here now, our medal on Sunday was postponed 40 mins for frost.

Range too far way, unheated too so winter golf is out unless it is unusually mild. That's me just about done for another year then!

Thinking of hibernating!! :D

I have my last competition on Sunday at Boat of Garten, its a greensome and to be honest it cant come soon enough! I've had a dreadful season, had a great start and its gone tits up ever since.

Got to 4.1 in May and I'm now back up to 5.0, this winter sees a good few lessons and some trips to the range to try and cure my swing.

Think I'm currently the worst 5 handicaper in Europe!!!!

birdieman - did you read my blog?? How do you cope only playing 6-8 months a year - it would drive me nuts

Sorry Homer, dont really read blogs, nothing personal.
No doubt there'll be the very occassional winter game with my father in law weather permitting. To be honest I just look on it as fresh air and exercise, not proper golf I get that rusty.

Are you guys just summer players or is your course not open for the winter?

Personally, I love playing in the winter. Less crowded, no societies, and comps every weekend to enter. I also like those really fresh early mornings with a hint of mist, the waterey sunlight.........

I'm looking forward to the off season.

I just couldn't face the prospect of 6 months with only the driving range! But perhaps that's where I'm going wrong!

I hate this time of year....dead leaves everywhere (usually on my line and doesn't matter what I do to shoo them away they will always blow back again just as I'm about to putt) and wormcasts all over the place.
Give me Spring anyday

I will be playing through the winter, we have a 4BBB comp (stapleford) your best 5 scores to count then the top 8 scores play matchplay, up to you how often you play.

My last big comp is on Sunday at Swanston Golf Club then its swing rebuild time at the range and maybe a few rounds during the winter depending on weather. Last year i played at least 1 round a week during the winter but its not very fun especially when your playing like a donkey.

Summer pairs final this sunday , then last county OOM next weekend , greensomes board comp weekand after that and then thats it for good comps this year. I will occasionally enter a medal through the winter if my shifts/weather allows but not bothered tbh

I will play social golf through the winter with not a care for how i'm playing until about February when i'll start to work on things again.

We play comps every weekend throughout the year. In winter its more scrambles and things but still comps and very soon the Turkey comps will start followed by bottle comps pre xmas. I couldnt face not playing comp golf in winter.

Hey Craw, to hell with playing in the winter. Done it for the first time this year, never again. I'll have a game on a good day but thats it. I'm all golfed oot. Got two medals, a three man scramble and a corporate day at Dalmahoy in the next two weeks, then the ball is burst.

Nearly for me as well possibly 2 wednesday sweeps but thats it, then the winter league ,may play in the North East Fife winter league for the club not sure yet tho.

My place no winter greens or mats ,greens are really good in the winter (yes i've moaned about them) ,but they are good .

Couple of lessons booked and some practise on the strip to get back to single figures next season and hopefully stay there.
If anyone wants a game in the winter PM me and we can sort something out.

Playing in a greensomes at Whitekirk this Saturday, then the following Saturday its the winners trophy at my home course, then winter. The course stays open all year and if its playable i will be playing till my membership expires, then i am of to ventures new.

My club stages Stableford and Medals all year round, so i'll be playing as much as usual. I enjoy the different game in the winter. Obviously don't like the mats and occasional temp holes, but it's all experience and better than the unthinkable: not playing for 4 or 5 months :(
