Injured my lower back 2 weeks ago and following a long period of painkillers and anti-inflammatories as well as osteopathic intervention, I felt good enough to go to the practice area to hit some half-wedge shots. 10 balls later, back is back to its worst.

Putting the clubs away for the summer and will then think about trying to get back into things again with the local pro to ensure that my swing doesn't injure me again.

Down from 21 to 13 and then up to 14 so I'm happy with what I have achieved this year anyway.

Going to have to find a way to keep myself busy over the next few months but got plenty of reading to catch up on!

Sorry to hear that mate, take care.

Had a disc operation in 2006 and know first hand how debilitating a bad back can be
Follow the medical advice, hopefully a rest period is all you need.
Good luck

sorry to hear Virtuocity, have had lots of time out for injuries last few years, very frustrating but get the right treatment and dont come back too soon

may be worth seeing a golf specific physio, have seen one recently and its great having someone who understands fully the body, medial issues and the golf swing and can advise on the combination

Forget the Osteopath, go and get proper medical advice and see what can be done. I speak from bitter experience, get proper medical help. Your back is to critical not to treat it properly.

Best medical advice re bad backs I ever got came from a professor of medicine / surgery : Voltarol gel and red wine !

Bad news Dave, hope it all works out and don't rush back and make it worse.

Oh Dave that's such a blow as you've been playing so well. Hopefully some rest from the full swing will see a speedy recovery and meantime you can sharpen your short game!

Good luck and hope you're soon back on the course.

Proper medical advice was- "here's some painkillers".

Really feel for you here, how you are better soon.

Have suffered from a bad back many times since a bad back injury in my early twenty's while working offshore.

Medical advice from doctors has always been have some painkillers and my physio will give you some stretches. Never found my GP much more use than a chocolate teapot when it comes to back issues.

To only thing that has ever sorted me out id a private osteopath
