Season ending.

A couple of threads have mentioned this and I'm slightly confused. This being my first full year playing, I can understand why professionals who want or even need a break, but club golfers? Or is the term just to clarify that there are no more club mayors? I for one play for fun, and still bitten by the bug, get out as often as possible. Plus I couldn't justify the club fees for only playing 8, 9, 10 months a year

Does anyone put there clubs away for the winter?

Think its more a case that quite a lot of clubs stop having comps once winter gets to us, or at least qualifying ones. Thankfully ours continue through winter as long as the course is playable

I agree with Fundy, most people are referring to handicap qualifying competitions, my competitive season ends next week as that's the last competition I'll be able to enter, just wish it wasn't a bogey competition.

I've just the 3 qualifiers left at our place, alas they don't run them through Winter.

When I refer to my season ending, my club comps, or at least the one that are named and have trophies, shields, cups associated to them are coming to an end. The mid week medal and Sunday stableford comps will continue as long as the course is playable on full tees and greens. In doing that members can still play to get changes to their HC's.

Once the winter takes hold and the course changes to winter tees and greens then the season is over.

When the hour goes back in October we go down to 14 holes so no qualifying competitions then until the beginning of April.

Quite a few players do put their clubs away for the winter in our club but other hardy soles go out in all weather conditions as we have a winter league to play for.

We continue to have a monthly stableford throughout the winter but strangely no medals (weather permitting of course). It keeps the competition juices flowing.

With you in that nick, just don't like bogey comps, just had pairs this weekend and singles next! Think we've only got a monthly medal and stableford left. On a high note we didn't do too bad this weekend considering neither of us played well ended up plus 5.

We carry on with qualifiers all year. We even have a club major in december. No temp greens or tees at our place.
