The Scratch Cup was held at my course today, basically it is the Club Champs, need to have a handicap of 9 and below to enter.

1 lady entered, and guess what she only went and won it, rounds of 77 and 69 for a total of 146.

Wonder how many other Ladies have won there Club Champs?

Averham trophy for me tomorrow, 36 holes for players with a handicap between 10 and 18, and then another 36 holes on Monday in the Prison Service Champs, hope it cools down a bit.

I'm surprised she had to go off the whites though, don't the women have their tees for a reason even in a scratch event?

Well done to her though.

Was her name Harriet perchance?:D

Must be some player!

There's a few good ones competing at The Buckingham this weekend too!

If they want to play with men they do as the men do only fair imagine a scratch lady golfer playing off reds an men off whites don't think any would enter

Knowing the lady in question this is exactly why she would of opted to play off the whites for a level playing field.

Good for her!

I'd say mixed handicap event ladies off the reds, scratch play off the same tees.

Probably just misinformed then but why would that be the case when all women's comps are played off different tees and even on the pro tours, women play from closer? Why all of a sudden would they be expected to compete from the same distance in scratch events? Fair play to those who stand up there and win!

It'd definitely be harder for us to compete but I know I wouldn't want to face accusations of unfairness; I'd rather lose.

There are obviously some women out there (not many in the amateur ranks) who can compete with good male players. A friend of mine often remarks that a woman is easily the best golfer at his club. He plays off about 5 and apparently doesn't hit it as far as her.

In my first year at my club (a small, newish 9 hole course) the best player was a lady off scratch. The best man was off six that year, if I recall correctly.

For what it's worth, I don't think it's unfair that a lady plays off a closer tee.
