When playing texas Scramble, if finding the better placed ball is uncertain , can one play the first ball as a provisional and then if finding the better placed ball play from there?

No. Once you've iniitiated the next shot that's the ball position in playWhen playing texas Scramble, if finding the better placed ball is uncertain , can one play the first ball as a provisional and then if finding the better placed ball play from there?
The one thing I’ve always thought is that Texas Scrambles are too fast paced for my liking, so I think this would be a great idea for slowing them down!
I was kidding. ?I can lend you one of our group then..... you end up with a 10 minute debate every time about which is best!(and I assumed you were kidding)
Are you suggesting that all should be able to take a provisional? When playing texas Scramble, if finding the better placed ball is uncertain , can one play the first ball as a provisional and then if finding the better placed ball play from there?
Many thanks for the clarification, I never thought a rules forum could be so entertaining....
Fast paced? I find them quite slow. Especially when the team are deciding which ball to play every time, and then every now and then others having to go off and pick up their golf ballsThe one thing I’ve always thought is that Texas Scrambles are too fast paced for my liking, so I think this would be a great idea for slowing them down!
