Question, did you buy it because it was a Scotty, or because it was the best putter for you?
Did you buy new or 2nd hand?

I went and got fitted.

The fitter narowed it down to the correct head and shaft length, then I tried loads.

I settled on the Scotty because, after the list was whittled down, it was the one that was most consistent over most of the ranges I putted from. Price didn't come into the equation. I had the option of paying £200+ for my Del Mar, or circa £100 for a Rife which was very good. I just found the Scotty more consistent.

I brough new in March 2012. Had a very brief fling with a Bettinardi earlier this year, but went back to what I know pretty soon after.

I tried a friends and then found what I was looking for on ebay. I have since tried others but still come back to my Scotty.

I bought the new Scotty (square back) as a long term investment, I had been fitted by our pro and it suits me well. I bought a 2nd hand Newport in error, last night of the masters, a little red wine and an excited finger on e bay !! So if anyone wants a Scotty let me know.

Have had many putters and finally decided to treat myself and felt that an SC was a really good quality choice.

I've only been playing a few months and was given mine when I started out by my brother-in-law. It's a Santa Fe tei3 if that means anything to anyone. I've since tried others but nothing feels 'right' except for the SC so have stuck with it.

I bought my fastback about 4 years ago I think tried it in the shop and liked it. I have no idea if it is the correct length or anything else. It was down to either a 2 ball or a the fastback and preferred the fastback over the 2 ball.

To be honest I got one by accident.

I forgot my putter one day at Tain and had to borrow the pro from the shop’s putter. I’d never used a Scotty or even thought about buying one, as I’ve always been a poor putter, so it didn’t feel worth it for me.

Once I tried one though the difference was amazing. The ball came off the face much better and it was easier to use on long puts compared to the Sabre Tooth I was using at the time.

I purchased one as soon as we got back in after the round and I don’t think I would look at another putter now. In fact I now have 2 Scotty’s and am tempted buy another.

Im a collector so I have a few Scotty's, covers, bags, polo's bit and bobs etc.

All started back in the late 90's, my uncle had a gun blue catalina that I loved, started looking up Scotty's etc then when in florida in early 2001 I bought my first, a Pro Plat Newport Midslant. I have had a few different styles over the years, going from the Newport, to a del mar 3.5 (flow neck), JAT (flow neck) then onto a tour centre shaft, which is the set up I have now stayed with. Currently using a tour only welded centre shaft fastback....

With so many SC fakes on eBay (so I hear) how did you decide?

its very easy to tell a fake on ebay once you know 2 or 3 things to look for. having said that i was caught out once but it was sent straight back to dispute resolution and sorted quickly. tends to be certain newer models only and the giveaways generally pretty obvious even on a listing.

to your original question, i wanted a scotty and tried out the ones they had in store. ultimately going for one that rolled better but wasn't necessarily the one i had gone in for originally. thereafter I bought rather too many on ebay for my collection. the original one is still my default putter and we've made a few of the boards in the club together...

Kind of by accident really. Was watching my pro practice his putting, and he had started watching and listening to Dave Stockton's tips, and he mentioned that it is best to have a putter which you like the look of when you put it down on the ground. For me, there was only one putter I could think of that I liked that much, which was the Scotty GoLo 5. Handily, I also knew someone who was selling one, and so I made him an offer on it, and he accepted. Never looked back as I love it!

Always loved Scotty's and as a fairly crap putter in general, i've had better results over the years with them. I've recently bought a custom re-furbed black del mar pro platinum from theputterroom.com and it's sensational.

Bought a new one as a sweetner for coming back to UK and was love at first sight :) ( Have got Cameron blood in me too so seemed only right I had one, was what I told the wife ;)

I bought mine new (have since sold it). If I'm honest I wanted a Scotty more than I wanted the best putter for me, lesson learned.

I get on much better with my much cheaper Odyssey. I find the insert better than a milled face- I prefer the feel and the sound.

Also, the Scotty had a straight neck but I have since found out that I putt better with a "plumbers" neck.

Haha, yeah, that sounds like me if I'm honest! I want a scotty, but not sure if a Scotty wants me or not! I've no doubt my game isn't 100% suited to a putter like that! And il be honest, £240 is a lot of money, I'd be looking for a big reduction in putts per round for that price! I'd say I average about 32-36, a Scotty isn't going to make me putt massively better!!

Yea it's definitely worth some experimenting first. I found my Scotty to be quite unforgiving and the noise didn't match up with the distance to me. I understand they are top of the range and very well made but it's such a personal thing.
