Thinking of getting one as there must be something in all the hype- anyone got a newish one? Are they as good as people and marketing say or are you a good putter no matter what putter you use?

I swapped to my current fastback last year after using a yes valerie very similar putters but IMO the cameron just feels better and gives the ball a better roll, that may be just because I am more comfortable with it though. Go find some give them a try you might like them you might not...

Thanks, guess its the only way, I've had blade type putters like the Ping Anser shape since a boy but maybe a mid mallet type would be better, that fastback looks a possible.

P.S Your GC looks stunning- what amazing views

I would definitely consider this, I use a Nike Method #3 half mallet/blade-y type thing, since I started using it, my short range putting (6ft and in) has been transformed...Until I had it I always used Anser-style putters.

He is real. I have met him and he is a charming and genuine bloke.

Tell us the story please Ethan, how come you met him, what did you talk about and so on?

@OP I think the putter is the ultimate club as far as all the buzz words we talk about on here, “looks”, “feel” and so on. Unless you’re lucky you will use the old Texas wedge on every hole and there are people who still use the putter they got with their starter set when all the other clubs have been changed three times around it because it gets the ball in the hole. With it being so personal it’s hard to advise someone on a putter, I spent many hours picking mine and still ended up falling in love with my mates (Scotty).

That said, you would be mad if you can afford it not to put Scotty on the list to try.

I used to collect Tour player Scotty Cameron putters, and a business trip to the US coincided with the Cameron Collectors Convention in Ohio, so I went to it.

It started with an afternoon event with a display of rare and collectable putters and Scotty agreed to autograph stuff for attendees. He ended up autographing stuff for about 3 hours. I came along near the end because I had a headcover for a junior member at the club, and I had a chat with him. He was friendly and patient and it felt like you were the first and only person he was talking to.

Next day there was a golf outing, and Scotty played along with the rest of us.

That evening there was a dinner and an auction of some special putters for charity. Scotty brought along a putter he had made for Lee Trevino, and a number of one-off few hand made putters. He also told a few stories about his business and players he worked with.

It was great fun and I would do it again tomorrow.
