Why do they hold such high value?!

Got my eye on one for a replacement for my current, I dont mind paying the price as they are loevly putters, but why do they hold such a high premium?

I had, up until a couple of weeks ago, a Scotty Cameron Del Mar (Sea Mist).

Beautiful putter, well crafted and exceptionally made. Lovely feel and great to look down on.

I suppose they're considered a 'Premium' brand within the game. Plus, people pay the full asking price for the clubs.

If people are willing to pay the price, why should they lower it?

Its a huge brand now and used by the big boys on tour. Massive marketing and some really clever technology. Like all things in golf people pay silly money for clubs that are used by their idols.... and think its going to make a massive difference to their game..... I suggest there is always going to be an element of technology that will help with putting but by the nature of the game technique, confidence and feel are going to be the main components to being a successful putter. SC putters are lovely and Ive had a couple over the years but have always tended to find something else that feels better or gives me more confidence as with the other clubs in the bag.

The glib answer (although true) is because people will pay that for them.

Cameron putters are excellent quality, look pretty good and have a body of collectors willing to pay well for them. The high prices for Tour putters pulls up the value of retail models. Scotty Cameron also gives great service to his Tour players and retail customers, including appearing at collectors days and other events. The collecting scene is big in Japan.

I used to collect the Cameron Tour putters, and I attended one of these events while over in the US on business. It was great fun and Scotty was incredibly good with the attendees discussing their putters and custom changes, as well as telling stories from the Tour.
