So the new Scotty is released, now I know we can all spend hundreds of pounds on drivers, woods and fitted clubs, and we use them all individually much less in a round than a putter, but, can the price point of £275.00 really be justified for a putter?

it looks (and probably is) the exact same as the Scotty Newport 2 I bought new for £199 and hated.

So to answer the OP's question- No!

why not? if people spend £300+ on the latest driver, why not a putter, like you said you use it more than any other club in your bag.

I wouldnt pay that kind of money for a putter, but if I had money to burn I could probably justify it on something like a TP Mills, Piretti etc, But I wouldn't pay £275 For a Scotty Cameron.
Im certainly not Knocking the quality, I'd just want something a little different for that kind of money.

Not for me thanks. I just can't see the benefits of spending that much compared to another putter at half the price... I'm sure it looks good in the bag though, and if it helps someone with a bit of confidence then spend away...:)

Depends on your budget I suppose.

When I turned 30 in 2012 my wife wanted to get me something nice, so paid for me to go for a putter fitting, with the proviso to buy what I hit best.

So I did and spent £210 on my Del Mar.

Is it worth it? To me it is? To you, it may not be.

Would I spend another £210 just to have the 2014 version? Absolutely not.

For my money, SC went out of my price range when they slipped from £179 to £199. I paid £159 for mine which looks more or less exactly the same as the one above and it was a faithful servant for very nearly 6 years before being ousted a few weeks ago when I decided to experiment with the Odyssey WH Pro DART which I picked up for £70 new. Build quality wise, the SC's are fantastic. I've looked after mine fairly well, and it looks pretty much 'as new' even now - whereas cheaper putters i'd bought over the years started to lose their sheen after a season or two.

Id pay it if I thought it was the best putter for me. If I was after a Newport personally Id look to buy a previous model a fair chunk cheaper. Trying to get hold of the Futura X with a counter balance at the moment, not going to have much choice to pay full whack (£279) and even then struggling to get one.

Personally Id rather spend a chunk on the putter than driver as I use it a lot more but thats personaly choice

Just bought a brand new Newport, old model, for £149.
As far as I can see it is the exact same putter, but mine doesn't have the red go faster stripe on the bottom.
Mine was discounted but I'm pretty sure the full price for it was £199 (which is a lot of coin for a putter anyway), I don't get why the new one is £75 more expensive?

I don't think the comparison to a £300 driver adds up. There is a lot more tech and manufacturing processes, multi materials etc in a driver. One of these putters is just milled out of a single block of metal, a relatively simple process.

If it gave me confidence, holed putts, and I liked the look of it, then maybe. But, given that very similar putters in construction and dimensions can be had the half the price, if not less......then NO.

The argument makes sense but personally I wouldn't touch another Scotty at full price, they just don't work for me.
