Saw the increas 19% and contacted Scottish Power. It took me 45 mins to sort out but they saif I could have afixed price until 2014 witha 4% rise. Thought that was excellent.

They phoned today advising that Scottish Power had it wrong and rather than £70 per month I would have to pay£90. An increase of £240 per annum!

How can Company's be so incompetent? I had the name of the person but feel there is little I can do other than change to another provider.

Rip Off Britain!

I've just changed to Scottish Power! :(

I'm on a capped rate so I'm hoping that the increases don't affect me. I'm waiting to see what correspondance I get from them......

I might have to go Billy mental on one of their representatives...... :o

With the wholesale price of electricity going to rise considerably in the next year, it's only to be expected that the suppliers pass this on to us unfortunately

It's a losing battle i'm afraid. I've switched back and forth several times now and have had the same treatment regardless. It's the only industry where price fixing seems to be legal. The fact all the big power suppliers are all a member of the Power Suppliers Consortium (that's not the exact name, can't remember it), where they agree increases etc says it all. They are supposed to be in competition.

It's one thing i don't waste my time on any more, which is probably the wrong attitude but to an extent we're flamin helpless until our MP's stand up to these groups. I'm not holding my breath

mine at least told me when they found out they had been charging at the wrong rate - from when they installed the new meter in 2005!

(they had the day/off peak readings transposed, halved my dd and got a chunk of cash back)
