Scottish Fitba'

I’m not sure it’s arrogance/entitlement at all. They have won 14 of the last 15 league titles, have more money in the bank than all the other teams combined, just done the double, had multiple big players missing for huge parts of the season and appointed Nancy who was a complete disaster.

As I said, if they don’t sabotage themselves I expect them to win the league but it looks like they might with the Keane appointment. This has John Barnes written all over it for me and Desmond is sending a GIRUY message to the fans.

Also expect Maeda and Engels to go and the “recruitment” policy of getting last minute loans in has been a joke, if they do that again then the league will be tight because of Celtic’s failures.
Am hoping last season was a bit of a wake up call, and the powers that be will realise that we need to spend the cash to get decent players in. Maeda, Engels and Hatate should bring in circa £45-50m, we need to be spending a good chunk of that on decent replacements.

It has happened in the recent past, we spent big on Engels, Trusty and Idah in summer 2024.

StJ CEO interview has StJ giving over three stands to the OF fans when they visit. Some StJ fans think this simply badges the club as a 'tinpot' diddy club ...but the CEO was quite openly pragmatic about it. Three stands for the OF is worth £500,000 to the club over a season and the club just can't ignore that simple fact - the relegation from the SPL cost the club £1.7m - and that's a huge amount for a club of StJ size (standing is different from size).

The new owners had said that two seasons in the SFL was the most the club structure and financing could stand before significant cuts and changes would have to be made. Fortunately one season saw us promoted however the club has to 'bust a gut' next season to stay in the SPL - and if that means having to make difficult and unpopular decisions then they have to be made.

Opening the stands to Celtic and Rangers fans (or the 40,000 Hearts fans  ) is a good decision, other clubs should follow suit. It's ridiculous choosing to have empty seats when there are plenty fans willing to fill them. It's also a poor look for Scottish football.

Depends on what the away fans bring to the party......unfortunately many are far from friendly and are usually keen to export their form of bigotry through song and chant

Last couple of years my grandson and I have taken in the Killie v Hearts game live.
Hearts fans filled the big north [?] stand so I would estimate about 2500, Killie looked like about 5000 fans [both teams were bottom six]
Great atmosphere I think Hearts won both games by a goal.
No sign of any agro anywhere or any time, after one game, when walking back to the car we had a lovely conversation with a couple of elderly Killie fans
At 0-0 Hearts had a player sent off for a very dubious foul.
Killie fans started chanting 'Hearts are falling apart...again'.
Hearts won the game with a late goal and the Hearts fans started singing 'Hearts are falling apart ..again 😍
We said we were lucky and they said that the Hearts player should not have been sent off.
It was a strange one with three players going for the same ball, the other two Killie players were booked

I hope you are right but I have a feeling DD will feel vindicated that they're doing everything right.
He'll put the exit from the UCL down to Rodgers.

Am loving your heartwarming stories of the beautifully behaved Hearts fans, such a lovely bunch 😀

Why a lot of StJ ST holders and support avoid OF matches. Putting up with three stands from which the standard OF bile, bigotry and aggro pours does not for an enjoyable afternoon make - and certainly not what you’d want to expose young children to.

But your club will accept that as they want their money. It's a choice, you could always give them 500 tickets and then drown them out with your own fans.

It is a choice…but supporters also have a choice and whether it is one stand or three, many would make the same decision and not expose themselves plus any youngsters to the bile.

You talk like there is ZERO offensive behaviour from supporters of all clubs other than Celtic or Rangers.
When I used to go to the football, up to about 2000, I can’t recall supporters of other teams NOT calling us fans or our players orange b*******!

Yes you are of course correct, fans of a few other teams (even a couple in the Championship) can spout similar bile, I’m not saying the OF are alone in this.

I’m simply reflecting the experience of many StJ supporters in respect of the OF fans and what they decide to do about it - they just don’t go. I am not aware that many, if any, act similarly when StJ are at home to any other team. It’s just a fact, were that it wasn’t, and it’s why some StJ ST holders have again with wishful thinking been asking if the club could do a ST that excludes OF matches 🤷

The difference being that virtually all Celtic and Rangers away games are televised, so they can sit at home and watch it. Whereas the rest of your home games are not on tv.

Martin O'Neil for another season then.. Hope we manage to play better football next year..
Fair play he got the job done when am not sure anyone else would've turned it around... Twice.. Lol.

How soon the fans forget how they treated O'Neil at the end of his former contract.
Desperate to get rid of him if I remember correctly.

Never go back is one of my rules........I think he might regret this move, especially with all the cash Rangers are about to splash to get past Hearts. ;)
