The Scottish amateur stroke play championship is at my course Friday-Sunday this week, and some players were starting to arrive today. However the level of preparation that has went into it from my course is first class, from the practice area, to the course it's self. Credit to the staff. Sure each participant will enjoy it.

Anyone on here or anyone from your place taking part ? Going to go down on Sunday to watch.

Anyone on here's course held anything similar? Looking forward to seeing some real talent

you'll see some great talent, you'll also see some scratch handicaps and wonder how they do it with 'that' swing:smirk:

just shows its not 'how' but 'how many' ;)

One of my old courses held the Irish close. Current club is hosting the Irish university thing this year and you could see the start of the preparation work in January. It is amazing to see the way the courses start to get set up a year or so in advance.

Your club is Southerness?

I promised myself a round there when I get to 18 handicap.

Yeah that's my track, this is my first year playing links love it only downside is that it's 20 miles away. Hence why I have kept my parkland course on which is also a good track. Your welcome anytime to come down for a hit. As is anyone else. Just bring plenty of balls

It will be interesting to see what the css for each round as sss is already 74 against par of 69 off the championship tees. Could be very high if this bad weather keeps up.

here's video of 2012

I know a couple of the lads playing one from my place of +2 who's home from Uni in America and Ross Bell from Downfield who's +3 and plays for Scotland. The closing handicap was +1.2 so a right bunch of choppers playing.

True weekend warriors mate

There will be divots like grow bags all over the camp

seems there's the Scottish Strokeplay championship and the Scottish Amateur Championship, I was looking at the SGU's flagship event the Amateur Champs which is h/cap 2 and Scottish players only. You are of course correct in scratch for the 'open' strokeplay event:thup:
