It is like a tinderbox up here, amazing sights of wildfire around Fort William last night.

I just took the dog out up the hill. I walked past a 4 foot snowdrift to see our farmer harrowing his field. It was a massive dust storm.
A guy I know who lives four miles away has been trapped in his house by 8 foot snowdrifts for over 12 days now.
Weird weather.

wasn't that fire started by some one strip burning the heather.

Mind you, it hasn't rained up here for at least 6 weeks and they were even using our irrigation system the other day;) in the course.

Yes it was heather burning. They are saying that the cold had made the heather stalks very dry, brittle and combustible.
There was over 40 fire brigade call outs to hill fires yesterday.

I nearly choked on my ice lolly (aye it was warm the day) when watching the news. I don't think it would take much to start a fire on some golf courses. bogside is very dry i

played 9 today in baltic wind, plugged balls and muddy balls were the order of the day- not fun

The mother in law was really close to the big fires in Swinley Forest a couple of years back. Actually quite scary when you realise you have little control over where the fire is going and how vulnerable your property could be

It's only gonna get worse.......the BBQ's are now out.
One of my friends works for the Forestry Commision and they are in panic mode.
Our village burn [river/stream for those south of Watford] is nearly dry.
UV figures very high here.
