Anyboby get a Sky Caddie for Crimbo? I got one and got a free round of golf at a DeVere golf course. I was wondering if anyone else got one and fancied a game at The Carrick? Before 31st March, when they have to be used by.

Played it last year, nice course. Found tonnes of balls. Tells you more about my game than anything else. I spent more time in the rough than looking for my ball and found what seemed like every other ball on the course... Its worth playing though some nice views and a belter of a downhill par 3 and I mean "downhill". Enjoy the game.

How much is it for a round there?

I would pay on if the green fees aren't way over the top.
Looked on their website damned if I can find a price. Seem to remember an email offering a round at £49, but to me that seems a bit pricey for an inland course over winter. Especially after the weather we have just had.

Are you certain The Carrick is part of the deal? I had an offer on a De Vere course and was only offered the 9 hole course at Loch Lomond.

The deal gives a list of the courses you can play and the only one in Scotland says "The Carrick at Loch Lomond" so I hope so. I did phone them up to find out if they had any days I should avoid and they never mentioned it was the nine hole course and not The Carrick.

I've got a voucher and certainly would be up for a game before the end of March.
Whoopppeee! Looks like it won't be Sharky Nae Mates phoning The Carrick for a game.

I'll PM you and we can get this arranged.

No they played yesterday and didn't even invite me along to caddie!

Craw,

Believe me no one would have volunteered or indeed wanted to caddie at The Carrick yesterday. Course was absolutely soaking and the wake behind my trolley wheels was a first for me. Was tempted to get a pair of water ski's on and get towed up the fairways instead of tip toeing across the few and far between dry patches.

As for the putting surfaces it was a case of trying to find the green stuff on the heavily sanded greens.

I'm no course designer or greenkeeper but there are some serious drainage issues on the course.

As you'll have guessed I wasn't impressed.

Notwithstanding the problems with the course. Shark, Thankyou for a most enjoyable day and look forward to playing again soon.

Roll on Machrihanish !!!

Don't listen to Algar5 he was just playing bad and wanted something to blame. Short 5 minute shower max. The course was in tip top condition. Before we went out I made sure all pigs were fed and ready to fly.

How bad can one course be? Longest water hazard ever, I hear they may drain it and call it the 17th fairway one day. More sand on the fairways (Just to soak up water) than they have at Ayr beach and the greens, well there was some grass on some but in the imortal words of Paul Daniels "Not a lot!". To cap it off there was not one hole that looked like it had been cut in the last week or if they had the greenkeeper had used a shovel, they were all collapsing in at the top (nearer 3 1/2" than 4 1/2").

Thank goodness for the company or boy would my review of the courses' condition have been bad. I probably missed the bad bits of the course and that is why I reviewed it so favourably
