Tomorrow is our invitational, and I have a mate coming down to play who is off 3. I've never played in a 4BBB game, let alone score one.

So, tell me, how is such a format scored both on an individual and team basis?

Normally you play off 3/4 h'cap and use stableford. Best score out of the two of you goes towards your team score. Usually there wouldn't be an individual prize as one partner would pick up if he couldn't beat his/her partners score or that hole.

Just make sure when marking your FCs card that you mark their score for that hole under the right player so the points are worked out correctly

We shot 38 points in the end, conditions were tricky with swirling winds and heavy showers.

Played ok, putting let me down again a bit but driving was straight and accurate, if a little short and hopeful of a nearest-the-pin prize after putting a 5-iron off the 12th tee to 4 feet. We were lying tied-3rd when I left the course to come up the road, but there were plenty of games still out on the course.

Cheers for the advice, was a big help.

While not terrible, a score of 38 is rarely close to winning such a competition. You generally need to be well into the 40s and in larger comps it'll often be the high 40s.

Wasn't expecting to win, tbh. We were out in the worst of the conditions early, and the weather had vastly improved by the time some of the lunchtime groups were going out, so 38 won't be enough even to cling onto the 5th place purse.

Not too bothered, it was my first experience of the format, and an enjoyable day all in all. That's what matters. :)

I enjoy the format and usually lumber poor old Hawkeye. We've not quite got the hang of it though as we always see to muck the same hole up. When we do get it right we are pretty strong and ad a good go in 2012 at the few events the club run but this year, mainly down to my incompetence, we were middle of the pack every time. I did win our Jubilee Cup with a former forum member HTL and keen to repeat the success. Of course I could blame my partner for playing too well and getting cut all the way to 7 and losing all those extra shots!!
