Do you guy's get hung up on beating your previous score. I play with guys who shoot 80 most outing's and they are totally obsessed with beating their last score, It's to the point if their having a few bad holes they'll give up scoring and use it as a practice round.

Sometimes it putts me of my game because they'll pick up their ball from a bunker and i feel i have to rush because their finished?

are you one of these? How would u deal with playing with such people?

I stick with match play as a rule in games with mates. That does away with the issue you're describing.

I'm sure that's not the preference of everyone, but we really enjoy it. Score becomes irrelevant and we just focus on the match.

They always say a golf course shows up a persons personality.

Short tempered, cheat, show off, big head etc
Fortunately I have found it is mainly Mr Nice Guy.
I would play with better guys.

If it's putting you off, then tell them it's putting you off! My be a bit o an ego thing - If I can't have a good round.....

Going from competitive mode to muck bout mode doesn't help imo. If a good round is on the cards, keeping it going is very important and dropping into muck-about mode when things go wrong doesn't help that. Practicing 'determination' works much better imo!

I never get to play with anyone like this. I always seem to find decent people to have a round with. Played several opens this year and playing partners have always been spot on.

I would let them know that you are still going to play each hole out, and that you would appreciate them playing the round they started through or be patient and wait each time they pick up cause you won't be speeding up just cause they want to pick up.

Or find people that are committed enough to see a round through start to finish so you can enjoy a full round

Never really come across this scenario. If you are getting put off, either find someone else to play with who play for the fun and take the slings and arrows golf offers. Otherwise tell the people you are playing with that you want to play the game properly and hole out. I can't see how anyone can even go out with the intention of beating their previous score. You can only score with the game you bring on the day.
