Sawgrass? Anybody played it? Got any tips?

Had a call from one of the lads today to say Sawgrass is all booked up for end of Feb
We got 4 nights in the hotel and 4 rounds (2 on the stadium course).

Got caddies thrown in aswell but think i'll pass on that.

Just wondered if any of you boys had been and could pass on some tips.
Whats the local area like? Recommend anywhere for food / beer in town?
What to avoid and what not to miss.

Jim,

I was based out there for two winters and absolutely loved it out there.

Some good places to go eat would be http://www.roysrestaurant.com/locations/FL/jacksonville_beach.asp and http://www.joescrabshack.com/locations/results/default.aspx?s=FL&c=Jacksonville

If you go onto the range at Sawgrass and see guys hitting towards you from the other end it could be Vijay or Furyk as the Tour players go the other end of the range and they are there a fair bit. You will probably enjoy the Valley course more, thats the course all the locals prefer playing.

If you have some spare days there are a number of money games at local clubs that you can join in on. Jax Beach GC is close by and have some good games on a Thursday and a Sunday with upto 50 guys playing.

Friend of mine lives at Sawgrass. Main advice is don't put your hand in the water to get your ball out - alligators have been seen!
